hey, can yall do me a favour and comment on H1-Key's / GLG's social medias that they shouldn't use an AI image on their comeback- nor any generative AI. It's messy with copyright, it's environmentally dangerous, it's against the lightly punk marketing usually used for the group, and it's discouraging us from buying it.
I've run the album cover through a few different AI detection programs and it keeps confirming it. Like, look at it.
simply, m1-key isn't a huge fandom and I'm literally not sure we've brought it up enough yet for their marketing team to realize. But, this is one of my ult groups, I'm making a multi hour video essay on them, and you probably heard their song Rose Blossoming Between Buildings a kajillion times. AI doesn't represent the girl group who posted blue while all other groups avoided political parties, constantly volunteer at animal shelters, did variety content where a sign language teacher gave them REAL and TAKEN TO HEART feedback on the clarity of their dances, and are ambassadors with disability representation organization. I promise one of them has a picture on their phone that will make a much better album cover.
Thanks for giving this the time of day yall :)
(the blue party does NOT represent the party that enacted martial law and got their dude impeached a bit ago- that's the red and rose and #2 symbology)
Since u are arguably the biggest h1key fan on tumblr, I wanted your opinion! What do you think of Glg vs Choi? Honestly i think Glg is way more bold/willing to experiment. From the start, exercise concept was very different to what most were doing. People saw it and thought "what on earth?". They tried a cuter exercise concept which did better, but Glg seemed to want to aim higher. I think h1key really came into themselves with RB/SD/LoH, but Glg killed momentum with long breaks and the H1key Notes that werent good at attracting new fans. RB/SD/LoH were good for the members concept-wise because they suit that wholesome with slight edge vibe. Lovestruck was also good, you could feel a mix of both Glg and Choi's vision, it was a little mature but still wholesome/sweet, kinda Sistar vibes. I feel like Choi is very "play it safe" type, which i'm not a big fan of. Last 2 releases feel very safe, not very h1key. What do you think?
hello!
okay, let me preface my answer with apologies for the belated response and inactivity on this blog🫠🥀
also, i'm a bit unrestrained and rushed to espress myself so my reply is going to be incohesive to some extent.
now as for your question, i'd also choose glg in that regard. even though H1-KEY has been under Choi Lab for just under a year, i'm inclined to agree with you and choose GLG too.
GLG had its faults and falls but they indeed went beyond the ordinary, they built H1-KEY identity: with Athletic Girl and Run centering around health glow and sportiness; Rose Blossom contrasting cold urbanism vs warmth of nature and themes of finding love and resilience in harsh environments; Seoul Dreaming capturing the essence of dreamy capital city; Love or Hate about embracing your flaws.
to be honest, i had a lot of expectations for H1-KEYnote project and the results...frustrated me both times (ironically i opened this blog right before the release of note #1). not that i don't like these eras but i understand why it didn't receive attention and went past people. it was too simple and a little bit boring in its execution. though i liked concept photos for Deeper era because girls looked so soft and ethereal, and both songs have great vocals. as expected from H1-KEY!
i get what you mean with your impression that last comebacks are 'not very H1-KEY", last comebacks definitely give more vibes of other groups, visually and musically (inspiration from jpop is also noticeable). for example, Lovechapter reminded me about Gfriend. but in its core it still feels like H1-KEY to me, at least for now, just more influenced by others. i only hope it won't dwindle away completely.
honestly, i don't believe my opinion on Choi Lab Entertainment being better than GLG in creative direction will change in the near future from what i've read. i've recently stumbled upon an interview with Choi Lab's CEO, Choi Shingyu. i knew that Choi Lab focused on trot cause i remember that this company houses trot singers spanning from all generations. However, they are expanding on that and plan to go even further. For example, in March CCL signed another trot artist, Shin Yu, who is considered to be Trot Prince in Korea. And in that aforementioned interview with the CEO (as memory serves, posted in early April) Choi Shingyu pointed out the differences between kpop and trot, his plans on popularising trot/elevating this genre's prestige and talked about the development of Choi Lab's upcoming AI-powered virtual idol singer(s).🫠 what caught my attention is that H1-KEY was mentioned there briefly only by the reporter, like an afterthought. obviously, kpop isn't the center of attention in this company because Choi Shingyu is passionate about trot.
you are right in your description of Choi Lab playing it "safe". but I guess these days most companies have a rigid and limited understanding of what experimenting actually is, the best they can do is utilising generative llm models. That's where they hit a ceiling creatively today.
so Choi Lab most likely will continue to go the safe route with H1-KEY due to the fact that the company's 'experiments' and focus lie on other things.
but maybe i'm wrong and they pleasantly surprise me.🤷♀️ who knows? only time will tell!
hi! not to be like 🤓☝️ um akshually but im 99% sure 샤륭향 is just meant to be a cutesy way of saying 사랑해 (in the trans for seoi's bday post for riina)
hello! ♡ honestly, i would really encourage you to be "🤓☝️um akshually" because your explanation is really helpful🙏
샤륭향 got me confused, but then i thought maybe seoi had signed her congratulatory message to riina with some kind of an untranslatable and punny nickname.
thank you! i've already corrected the mistake🌸
