“Yes,” Laura replied simply, deciding that the fact that she was heavily pregnant with their fourth child was more than enough reason to simply curl herself up against him on their couch, preventing him from being able to get up at all.
He gave her big, chaotic children. It was the least he deserved.
"Oooh look who's under the mistleltoe~!" Sam called over, seeing their big brother Rick and Laura having bumped into each other under that classic holiday trap. Rick glanced from the hanging decoration to their neighbor, Laura. Uh, really? [PFF before they even like each other in the fam au!!]

Laura hadn’t even been concentrating. She’d been busy trying to help their moms with all the holiday prep for that huge neighbourhood Christmas dinner they were going to be having. But now she was there, under that damned mistletoe that she was sure Sam or George had put there for a situation like this. She scowled.
“Ugh, no.”
“Oh come on, Laura!” Kat called out. “What, are you too chicken to actually kiss a guy this year?”
She rolled her eyes. “Please. He probably tastes like sweat and dirt from all that time he spends outside rolling in mud,” she quipped, before turning and walking away to help with more setup. “Find me a hotter guy who doesn’t smell like hay, and maybe I’ll give him tongue.”

Laura stood silently outside the bedroom door. She wasn’t alone, but right now she felt as if she might as well be.
Part of the reason why she was standing outside and not in the room was because she didn’t want to disturb the babies. Her mom, Allie and Kat had just managed to get them to sleep, and she’d be damned if she woke them up with the hell she was most likely about to raise. Heck, she wouldn’t be surprised if Mama Judy went around crafting tiny little earplugs for the babies, because that woman sure as hell knew what was about to happen. She wasn’t even supposed to be standing right then; she was meant to be on bed rest for another couple of weeks.
The rest of the reason was the man standing in front of her. Over a foot taller than her, and certainly much stronger than her, but she wasn’t terrified of him. Not one bit. She was furious with him.
“What the fuck makes you think you can just come up here now, huh?” she almost snarled. Yeah, if the fact that she was standing between him and the door hadn’t been enough to show that she was angry before, then her tone surely said it now.

who spends hours putting up lights only to get tangled in them and storm off? Laura is no good at untangling stuff and she gets pissy easily compared to Jesse, so it’s gonna be her
who accidentally eats a whole box of christmas chocolates in one sitting? Jesse would pick through them and finish them and Laura would get mad. But it wouldn’t be in one sitting - it would be in multiple sittings and as he goes about his day
who insists on watching the cheesey hallmark christmas movies? Laura!!! More because she wants to point out how ridiculous they are, not because she actually enjoys them. Jesse sighs as he goes along with it
who insists on playing nothing but michael buble in the few days running up to christmas? I’m not sure? Laura grew up on the Christmas classics and Christmas pop so she’d want those above Michael sorry. Not sure about Jesse tho
who gets their presents wrapped at the mall so the other cant go snooping? Laura always likes taking a peek at what Jesse got her, so sometimes he gets it wrapped at the mall, sometimes he just hides the present really well
who insists on making snow angels? Laura does!! And then when she’s standing all proud of her angel Jesse tackles her into the snow and they have a snowball fight
who put christmas outfits on all the pets? Laura tried to tell him not to. She really did. But Jesse put them on. Someone *cough*Gabbie*cough* gave him the idea of the dogs acting out the nativity scene and he wanted little shepherd dogs and angel dogs and the different animals in the manger and-
Do they go to family’s or have a quiet day in? Jesse definitely prefers a quiet day in. But they never get out of it and are forced to go to Laura’s family Christmas gathering yearly otherwise Laura gets endless calls all year round. It’s always awkward because her dad is a racist bastard and yet again, they’re being asked when they’re having kids
who insists on wearing matching ugly christmas jumpers? Jesse refuses every time until he sees how sad she is and puts it on reluctantly
Who waits up until midnight to give the other their present? Jesse! Because he hid the present really well this year and as the Santa for the local mall’s promo event he must deliver the gift to those who have been good and Laura is always good
Who insists on hand-made presents only one year? Laura suggested it and Jesse seemed chill about it but was panicking about it to Dimitri for weeks
Who puts mistletoe on every door frame? Laura. Jesse takes them all down and kisses her everywhere he can in the house to make a point
Who gets too drunk at the work christmas party and has to be picked up at 9:15pm? Gotta be the lightweight, Jesse :)
who gets angry and almost tells kids that santa isnt real? Both of them, because they were in a fight. They panicked when they realised the kids were watching

Going on walks had to be Laura’s favourite thing since starting to date Rick. For some reason, he liked parking a few blocks away from her place when he was dropping her off after a shift, meaning that they walked the last few blocks to her place, and he walked with her all the way to her door.
It was sweet. Chivalrous, even.
This day, she’d forgotten her coat back at the bar, but had forgotten until they were walking back to her door. She was tired, cold, and really just wanted her bed, so that coat could wait until tomorrow.
When she shivered, though, she began to think otherwise.
Watching her wrap her arms around herself as they walked and chatted, Rick couldn’t help but let out a mental sigh. He had to admit, it was her stubbornness that got her in this situation.
And it would take him being a gentleman to get her out of it.
Shedding his coat, he draped his coat over her shoulders, not expecting the look of surprise on her face.
The small smile he gave her in response seemed to be enough of an answer to her unasked question.

The huge neighbourhood family gathering was always a highlight of the year - it was the main reason why they all came back from college, honestly. Of course, this year, for Laura it had the added bonus of her actually liking the workaholic oaf sitting across the room from her, and apparently he liked her back. At least, she hoped that was the reason he kissed her.
Glancing over at him from where she was sitting with her twin, she was mildly surprised to find him already staring at her, though as soon as they locked eyes he looked away, seemingly embarrassed. Which made her want to laugh. Very little embarrassed that guy, honestly, and to know that them locking eyes was one of the few things? Hilarious.
A few moments later, though, he was looking back at her, but instead of looking away a small half-smile quirked up on his lips.
It was cute.
And it made Laura smile back - a smile that his dad didn’t miss.
“Hey, now, Ricky, no flirting during family gatherings. We’ve talked about this.”
The blush that spread on his face was definitely something Laura laughed at.
