Hii! Anon who asked the Pit ask. I wrote something for it (It was stuck in my head for days) And wanted to share :3
There is a LOT of blood. Like a lot. Warning.
It couldn't be real. They were free. They were... free, and standing, and looking at the sun, and-
Where was his human.
The warmth that he'd come to expect from them in their place, tucked against his chest, was gone. Fading. An emptiness that only they could fill.
They were his, and he was theirs. But someone had dragged them apart.
Someone was about to die.
He saw a stretcher, a doctor, a person, a mask, and the world faded away-
The next thing he knew, they were cradled in his arms, coated in the blood from the doctors, also coated in the mass of blood they were losing.
He remembered how they'd been attacked. Well, how he'd been attacked. And they'd taken the hit.
Just like a stupid, compassionate human would do. And now, they were bleeding out on him.
"No," he snarled. "No. We did not live though all of that hell just for you to die when we made it back to the surface. That's stupid. You are not allowed to die."
They probably couldn't hear him. But he kept talking, doing his best to hold them close. And safe.
"No. No, you can't die. You're the only one I have left... No one understands me like you do. No one's been through the same things as we've been through. Together. You and me. We are never apart, remember? Together. Forever."
He didn't notice the sudden coldness in the air, only the growing coldness in the human cradled in his arms. "No... No, no, no... NO!"
"Killer."
The voice was his salvation. It was his demise. It was their only chance. "Time to come home."
"Only if they come with me," he hissed. "Alive," he felt the need to add.
There was quiet, and he felt Nightmare's searching his gaze; his emotions, his attachment.
"Fine. Bring them."
Relief spilled through his soul. They were going to live.
They were going to live, contained and trapped and safe in Nightmare's realm, tucked away from all the dangers the multiverse could give. He'd comfort them, hold them, love them. They were his and he was theirs, after all.
They'd promised him forever. He'd protect them forever. They'd be safe. Forever.
They'll learn to love it.
Together.
Forever.
