Mac DeMarco - One More Love Song
My Current Favorite Artists
Top 5 Favorite Artists
1. Father John Misty
Josh Tillman captured my heart with his 2012 release, Fear Fun, under the name Father John Misty, but only after he had performed his single “Bored In The USA” on Letterman. Intrigued by his fervor and oddities, I dove deeper, and thank God that I did, it was worth it. “I Love You, Honeybear,” his second release under the moniker of Misty, is now one of my favorite albums, fill with great variety and attitude that rivals that of your needy gf tripping on shrooms.
2. Noah Gundersen
Gundersen is MY artist. He is MY musician. Gundersen marks the beginning of an era in my personal life. As well as just being a fantastic songwriter, my love for Gundersen also represents my entrance into myself, specifically my own, personal taste in music. When my friends think of Noah Gundersen, they think, “Yeah, Logan really likes him.”
3. Tame Impala
All of the new singles from “Currents” have my vibe-o-meter levels completely off the chart. From “Disciples” to “Cause I’m a Man,” I couldn’t be more hype for the new album. But the last two LPs from the mind of Kevin Parker have always put me in a trance. Specifically “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards,” in which you feel like you only go backwards, but dancing rhythmically forward on a floor where the coefficient of friction is 0.
4. Mac Demarco
I wish I was surfing. I wish I could surf. If I could, I’d get a kick-ass board decorated with cigarettes because Mac Demcaro is the man. The tinny and vibing guitar tones and the flowing licks make Demcaro probably the most inherently bodily experience of all the artists on this list. How can you not smile when you hear Blue Boy? Featuring: That Synth Though.
5. Sufjan Stevens
Have you ever just feel the need to cry? and cry? and cry? Of course you have, I imagine that Stevens does too. Connect with him. It’s not hard to feel his sorrow, his past, his love, his hurt. His new album “Carrie & Lowell” is the Titanic disasters of emotional turmoil and that’s a good thing. Expressing something deeply personal, whispering throughout the entire album, it’s hard not to lean forward and listening intently to what this man has to say. I know I did. *sigh*
