Questions for you! :)
How did you discover the show?
Have you adopted any headcanons?
Have you learned any Mac Hacks?
Hi! 👋🏻 Thanks for the questions!
How did you discover the show?
I was looking for something to watch and remembered that I pay for Paramount+, lol. It came up on the suggested shows list (this was during Season 5), and my roommate and I decided to give it a try. It took us a couple of episodes, but we were hooked pretty quickly. We binged several episodes a day until we caught up to the last few episodes of Season 5.
I started reading fic when we were binging season 2, and I started writing it after X-Ray + Penny, I think. Because there's just so much of that episode that we didn't get to see.
Have you adopted any headcanons?
I've made my own, for sure. I can't think of any that I've adopted. There are some that I like, but I don't think they've found their way into my fics – like Mac being hard to drug or drugs not working correctly on him.
Have you learned any Mac Hacks?
I haven't learned any Mac hacks :( I don't generally have any reason to use a hack, sadly. I did buy a SAK though, and it's been super useful.
Desperately Trying to Find a Use for the ChugPlug
[AkBKukU] writes in to tell us of his experiments with the rather vile-sounding “ChugPlug”, an odd portable AC power bank designed for the express purpose of powering MacBook chargers. It would seem more efficient to simply build a DC power bank with a MagSafe connector to cut out the charger all together, but presumably there is some market for this particular niche device. Especially at the $15 they are currently selling for on Amazon. Unfortunately, the ChugPlug that [AkBKukU] bought doesn’t seem to work. After some experimenting he found that it appears to only be outputting 80 VAC, obviously too …read more http://pje.fyi/QKBGjt
smcFanControl lets the user set the minimum speed of the build-in fans
So this is a helpful little thing that I have been using for the last few months. Macs are known to run hot. I have a friend in Apple Support who has been trained to ask the question “Fresh toast hot, or stovetop hot” when trying to assess the temperature of the machine, especially when it’s been running a while. This little download lets you ramp up the RPM of your fans, making them go a bit faster and cool your machine more. Mine usually runs about 5500RPM, and stays at a lovely 35°C. So, if you’re having some heat issues with your mac, try downloading it and trying it out.
(Just a note, don’t search for smcFanControl because there’s a “MacUpdate” version, and MacUpdate is horrible malware that will suck the resources of your system. The link I posted is from cNet and is clean.)
