#OnThisDay 323 BCE: Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, King of Persia, Pharaoh of Egypt and King of Asia, dies in Babylon. He was 32 years old. In his short life he had carved out an empire which reached from the Mediterranean Sea to northern India. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of the greatest military leaders in the history of the world. After 7 year's in business the owners opened the only Albainan Balkan Market Bakery n Cafe West side Metro Detroit. Open just under a year the place has thousands of regular customers. Most unique Mega Bakery I've ever been inside. Large counters with fresh made in house Eastern European Baked goodies. The market prides itself on having products not typically found in the United States. The shelves are lined with items such as olives from Greece, farmer's cheese from Poland and Fanta from North Macedonia. They even sell a handful of products imported specifically for Atko Market and Bakery: the Prima line includes items such as banana peppers, cabbage and more. Several coolers also provide meats and cheeses from places like Albania and Serbia.  The shop also has a full bakery with products baked inhouse, including cannoli, cake and baklava. Savory items include French bread and Burek in many forms, a Balkan flaky pastry filled with items such as Meat, Spinach and Cheese. Exactly what I drove 30 minutes here for, well worth the drive gonna visit once per month. A small Cafe with tables to enjoy a big plate of Chevapi a favorite of mine. I browsed half the store it's huge many aisles a produce section. Beer n Wine from around the world. Yes Albainan n Macadoian Wine I know a few will want some. Such a friendly owner and staff. I met a 80 plus years old Romainian lady who only buy's her bread from them, yes I got a fresh loaf Hot outta the oven OMG. I picked up frozen Chevapi and Romainian Mici two Balkan Meats I really Love. See the photos and my tray of Baked goodies.
