MacDalton Amnesia

Alright, this bounced from a far more angsty idea that I may post later, but I thought it was hilarious.

So we start with a Mac and Jack that do not realize they are in love, and neither truly never even considered it. This is during that magical time after Matty, but before Mac left.

There is a mission gone wrong and they both manage to get amnesia. Perhaps it is full auto biographical, perhaps it is only part of their lives but they lose at least the length of their friendship.

Everyone knows that they had a rocky start and so the team is hesitant, waiting for an explosion when the two are brought back together... only for the two boys to start flirting outrageously. Like full on, everyone is is embarrassed for them type of flirting. Also nerdy flirting because of Mac.

There is the underlying dealing with their Amnesia, and obviously other issues that come up with being a secret agent. But mostly it is just these two boy, completely free of compunctions just flirting while the rest of the Phoenix team is the in the background going "What?" and "That is a horrible line? That worked?"

So I just watched Macgyver Season 5 Episode 5, and it hurt so much ~ naturally, my reaction was to write a fanfic showing how Mac & Riley respond to Jack's death for Febuwhump.

I just finished it (in 1 sitting, wtf. I guess emotion really does drive me) BUT I can't release it until the corresponding day Feburary 26th (go look up the prompt if you're curious).

However I am really proud of the way this turned out. As a teaser I'll share a few of my favorite lines:

Mac can’t breathe. He knows what it is, but he doesn’t want to see it because seeing it, feeling it will make it real and Mac can’t, he just can’t deal with the fact that Jack is - that Jack won’t ever-

The man opens his hands and Mac sees Jack’s dog tags. 

His world crumbles to pieces.

~

He watches, numbly as Riley crumbles to pieces. He knows he should walk over there and talk to her, comfort her, hug her or something, anything but he’s frozen in the spot. He literally can’t move, can’t do anything, because - because Riley - 

Riley believes Jack is dead. 

~

Jack is dead and Mac can’t do this anymore. He can’t go back to work and pretend like the axis of this entire world, his gravity is gone. He can’t show up at the Phoenix, where he spent so many years with Jack and walk its hallways, complete it’s missions without hearing Jack in his mind every single second of every single day for the rest of his life. 

~

When Jack had… gone the first time, there was a void, in both his heart and his job. Desi had filled the job’s void, so Mac had thought she’d fill the void in his heart too. But the truth was, they didn’t work. They never did. 

Mac knew that; but he kept trying anyway because a puzzle piece that didn’t fit right was better than no puzzle piece.

I AM HYPED I AM SO HYPED

You know what this fandom needs? More fluff. We've got the angst and smut covered but we're in dire need of happy fluffy fics and art. So. I finally felt inspired today and sketched up some sappy, laughing boyfriends for y'all. Mac's doing his Jack impression, complete with Jack's cowboy hat, and Jack thinks it's the funniest thing ever and they're laughing and in love and it's everything good and fluffy in this world.

Also some bonus thumbnails at the bottom cause I was practicing poses. Still working on kiss poses, I can't seem to show angling-towards-the-viewer right but we'll get there.

Home + Texas [MacJack]

“Mac, go see him. Talk to him face to face, trust old Bozer on this.” Bozer patted Mac’s forearm as he rose up, knowing that Mac would need to use his heart for once instead of his big brain, but Mac needed to come to that realization himself.

“…Thank Bozer,” Mac muttered as Bozer walked out of the room, hiding a smile as he did so.

Mac sipped his cola as he leaned back in his chair, staring at the waiting application as his mind whirred. Mac was startled as his phone buzzed and he snatched it up, his lips turning up when he opened a photo Jack had sent. It was of a sunset from over the fields of the Dalton family ranch and something in Mac’s chest twisted and he found himself opening a new screen, searching for flights to Texas.

An AU where Mac goes back to MIT and Jack goes home to Texas when they are discharged from the Army.
