The Autobots Discovering a Forced Fusion
(TW: Human experimentation, body horror, and vomiting.)
(Seriously, it’s gonna be gross, you guys. I surprised myself with this one.)
(A follow-up of sorts to this piece)
The Autobots had managed to pinpoint the Nemesis’ location and had opened a groundbridge in a desperate attempt for energon. Ratchet had been pulled along as well, leaving Rafael in charge of manning the groundbridge controls.
Miko saw her opportunity when Raf had been focusing on something on his laptop and Jack had gone to grab a snack. With a grin, she bounded down the stairs and made a beeline for the glowing portal. She heard Raf shout something just before she passed through, and then suddenly, she was in the Decepticon warship.
She’d been onboard a few times now, but she still felt a sense of awe every time she was here. She took a moment to take in the utter magnitude of the ship, with its dim lights and hallways that stretched for what felt like miles.
She was about to run off to find Bulkhead and the others when she was suddenly pulled back by the arm. “Hey!” she exclaimed.
“Shh! Do you want Megatron knowing we’re here?!” Jack whispered harshly. Miko pursed her lips in annoyance and yanked her arm out of his grip.
“You didn’t have to follow me, you know. I was going to go find Bulk.”
“Miko, we gotta get out of here. This isn’t just a scouting mission.”
“No way! Come on, we should check this place out!”
“Did you miss the part where I said Megatron was here?”
Miko only shrugged as she started backing away. “That old buckethead doesn’t know we’re here. And besides, he’ll flip out over Optimus being here before he’ll even notice us. When that happens, he’ll sound the alarm and we make a run for it. Simple enough.”
“Miko-” Before Jack could launch into his explanation of just how bad of a decision that was, Miko had turned and run off. He had no choice but to follow.
-
Miko wasn’t sure which way the Bots had gone, but after almost twenty minutes of wandering, she had come to the conclusion that she was completely lost. So she wandered. She skittered from door to door, peeking inside to see if she could find something cool or something to break. Jack was following behind at a distance, but she knew he’d be able to keep up.
They’d just passed another hallway when Miko’s phone rang. She fumbled with tit for a moment in her haste to answer, and she saw Jack running towards her in her peripheral vision as she finally managed to flip it open and accept the call.
“Are you nuts?! My ringtone is on! Do you want me to get caught?!”
“Miko, where are you?” Bulkhead’s familiar baritone eased her nerves slightly.
“How’d you know I wasn’t at the base?”
“Raf called. Said you ran after us and Jack followed you. Come on, where’d you run off to? We need to get going.”
Miko frowned, pouting slightly as she turned to glance at Jack. “Aw, already? I haven’t even found anything yet.”
“Miko...”
She grumbled, but with both Bulkhead’s scolding and Jack’s hard glare, she gave their location.
“Alright. Stay there. We’re finished up here so we’ll head your way. Don’t move.” Miko opened her mouth to argue, but he hung up before she could. She huffed and shut her phone.
“Let’s try to stay out of sight until the Bots get here,” said Jack.
“You guys are no fun,” she grumbled.
“Does this really seem like fun to you?! Sneaking around an alien ship filled with giant robots that’ll try to stomp on you if they spot you?!” Miko didn’t answer. She just crossed her arms and stared down at the floor. Jack sighed and took her by the elbow as he guided them to a wall they could press up against.
Ten minutes passed and no one showed up. Miko debated getting her phone out and calling Bulkhead, but she didn’t want to risk giving away his location in case he was hiding from any Cons. She had to fight back to urge to groan from boredom.
There was a harsh hiss of pressurized air nearby, followed by the thud of giant footsteps. Jack’s hand tightened around her own and Miko found herself squeezing back. They both pressed back against the wall in the hopes that they would go unnoticed by whoever was passing by.
Miko dared to look up, and saw the Decepticon scientist Shockwave looming overhead. He hadn’t seen them, or at least, she was pretty sure he hadn’t. He was looking ahead with that one large red eye as he walked by. She watched him go for a while before looking back in the direction he’d come from. Setting her jaw, Miko let go of Jack’s hand and made a break for the doorway. She didn’t wait to see if Jack had followed her as she came to a stop in the front of the door and ran inside.
She could tell right away that it was a lab of some kind. Computer screens lined the walls and displayed all kinds of readings and writing that she couldn’t understand. Something was glowing from around the corner and Miko grinned as she ran over to investigate.
Lined up along the wall were a series of tubes. They were rather small for a Decepticon and she wondered what they were for. She could see that there was something floating in the bright green fluid. Cautiously, she approached.
Up close, she could make out the vague shape of a person, but the green goo was so foggy that she couldn’t really tell. She leaned in closer until her face was almost pressed up against the glass.
Something slammed against the glass, causing her to shriek and leap backwards. She crashed into something warm that grunted before she toppled to the ground.
“Careful!” Jack said. Miko rolled off of him and scowled at him.
“Stop sneaking up on me!” Jack glowered at her and opened his mouth to argue when there was another slam. Both of them jumped before turned to the tubes.
Pressed up against glass was a human hand.
They stared, frozen in place.
“There’s... someone in there?” Jack muttered under his breath. He met Miko’s eyes. The stillness was broken as Miko pushed herself up onto her feet.
“We’ve got to get them out of there,” she said as she walked around the tube, searching for some kind of opening.
“Wait, what?” Jack was on his feet now too.
“Come on,” she said as she got on her knees and leaned down, still searching, “Help me find a way to get this thing open.”
“Miko, I don’t think-”
“Jack? Miko?” She shot up just in time to see Bulkhead and Bumblebee entering the lab. “What are you two doing? We gotta go!”
“Bulk, you gotta help us get this open! Someone’s in here!” Bee buzzed something before Arcee came in. Bee repeated whatever he’d said as Bulkhead came up to the tube Miko was standing next to.
“Stand back,” Bulkhead said as he wrapped a hand around the top of the casing. With a quick tug, the top came off with a creaking sound and the crunch of glass. Wires were attached to the inside of the lid and disappeared in the strange goo. “Wha-”
An arm shot out of the tube and grabbed the edge. The tube began to wobble as whoever was inside tried to pull themself out. Bulkhead cursed as he tried to snatch up the tube, but whatever was inside had covered the glass, making it too slippery for him to get a grip on.
The tube fell to the floor and broke apart with a crash. Shattered glass and fluid splattered out all over. Jack pulled Miko back, away from the broken shards. Miko could only stare at the lump that began to move.
It was shiny with the nasty looking goo, and Miko felt her stomach turn at how slimy and thick looking it was. The lump wriggled on the ground for a moment before an arm reached out to balance itself. Then another. Then another.
Miko could only stare as a pale, hairless thing that vaguely resembled a human slowly brought itself onto its knees. It slowly lifted its head, revealing two sets of milky white eyes. If she really looked at the thing, she could see the human features: shriveled up ears, a nose, and thin lips. Its body was gangly and frail-looking, and even from this angle Miko could tell that its ribs were visible. It looked like someone had stretched paper-thin skin over a human skeleton. Neat lines marred its body, and the precision pointed to surgical scars. The left arm was normal enough until the elbow. From there, the forearm split up into two, giving the thing three functioning hands.
The wires that were attached to the inside of the tube were connected to what looked to be ports in the creature’s back and around its neck.
It stared at Miko for a moment, unblinking and trembling.
Then it opened it mouth and let out a garbled noise that made Miko wince.
“Jack! Miko! Get back!” Bulkhead stepped in-between the creature and the children, and Miko was suddenly being lifted into the air by Bumblebee.
“What the scrap is that?” Arcee asked, her face twisted in disgust. The creature warbled out again and began to twist its head this way and that. Almost as if it was looking for something.
“Whatever it is, it’s not normal,” Bulkhead said. His voice was steady, but Miko knew her wrecking buddy well enough to know that it was all for show.
Jack was still staring at the thing on the ground when he said quietly, “Miko.”
Miko turned to her friend, confused by the frailty in his voice. Jack looked at her. “It’s human.”
“What?” Arcee brought Jack closer to her chest as she took a step back from the slimy body. “That’s no human.”
“Can’t you sense it?” Jack sounded so small, and it took a moment of Miko looking at the thing before it finally registered.
She’d been looking at the thing’s physical appearance and not its mental one. There was a feeling she got from looking at this pale, squirming thing.
It felt sour, mutated, and - to her horror - familiar.
“That’s... That’s a fusion,” she choked out. From above her, she could hear Bee let out a loud whirr of shock and confusion. Bulkhead was saying something else, but Miko didn’t hear it.
She couldn’t stop staring at the thing on the floor. The human on the floor. The humans on the floor.
She glanced up at the row of tubes that seemed longer and longer now.
If this is what was in this tube, then did that mean that all of these...?
A loud bang set everyone on high alert. Miko had just enough time to see that a team of Cons had entered the lab, guns raised and shooting, before she was quickly set on the floor next to a stunned Jack.
Bumblebee had joined Bulkhead in engaging the Cons while Arcee kept guard on the children. She used her commlink to call for Raf to open the groundbridge. From the door, Optimus was striking down drones left and right as he fought to reach the others. Miko and Jack crawled further away from the fight.
From the corner of her eye, Miko saw the deformed fusion was still trembling, trying desperately to stand.
Now that she was looking for it, she could sense feelings that only humans who had fused before could pick up on.
There was confusion, and fear, and overwhelming anguish.
And there was pain. So, so much pain.
Her eyes began to prick with tears at the sheer intensity of the emotions the fusion was emitting.
There was a crash as three drones worked simultaneously to bring Bulkhead down. They forced him to back up, forced him to go on the defense.
“Bulkhead!” Miko cried out, only to regret it immediately. Bulkhead looked at her, away from the drones, and didn’t have time to block the next punch. It sent him toppling to the floor.
Miko’s heart stopped as he slammed into the other tubes.
Slimy green fluid burst out, covering Bulkhead as well as the floor. As the goo began to drain, other bodies started appearing.
Now that Miko knew exactly what they were, what the Decepticons were doing to them, her horror and nausea only grew.
There was one fusion with two heads and three legs, with one deformed arm sticking out of the middle of its torso.
Another was attached only by the head, and Miko let out a sob as she beheld the jumbled mess of flesh that made up its face.
One after another, the grotesque human fusions slipped out of their containers. One unlucky one had fallen onto a large shard of glass that still stuck to the tube, effectively impaling the thing. It was wriggling and clawing at the glass, cutting up its hands as it screeched in pain.
Bile was rising in her throat, and Miko could only hiccup out another sob.
She couldn’t move.
She couldn’t think.
She wasn’t entirely sure if she was still breathing.
Miko was vaguely aware of someone shaking her, but she couldn’t bring herself to answer. And then she was being hugged. It took a minute or two for her to realize that it was Jack. She reached up and wrapped her arms around him, burying her face into the fabric of his t-shirt.
“Jack!” Arcee was running toward them, only to be tackled by another drone. Jack pulled Miko to her feet and forced her to look him in the eyes.
“We have to find better cover,” he said. He looked around for a moment before pointing to a nearby computer console. There was what looked to be a series of drawers. A few were open, no doubt having been knocked into at some point during the scuffle. “There!” Jack grabbed Miko’s hand and ran for it, pulling her along. She had to force herself to run, despite the numb feeling in her limbs.
They were close when something wrapped around her ankle. She cried out and she fell to the floor, grunting as her chest took the full impact. She scrambled to get up, but whatever had her was pulling insistently.
Miko looked back and immediately wished she hadn’t.
One of the fusions had wrapped one of its five hands around her ankle. It split at the hips into two torsos, two sets of arms, and two heads. One of the halves was fighting to sit up with shaking arms, a dark blanket of hair masking its face, while the other one tugged her back.
Miko screamed and tried to kick away its hand. Her boot only slipped on the slick liquid covering its body.
The fusion warbled, reaching out another hand to wrap around her calf. She could feel the slime soaking through her leggings and making her shudder. She whimpered as she met its eyes. It opened its toothless mouth and, to her horror, spoke.
“Hhhhuuuuu... Huuuuu... Huuulllll...”
“Miko!” Jack grabbed her hand and tried to pull her out of the fusion’s reach, but it was no use. Jack swore and let go, looking for another way.
“Hullllll... Puh... Huuuullllp... mmmmeeeee...”
Jack appeared above them and before Miko could react, he brought his foot down on the fusion’s arm. He did it again and again before it finally let go of her leg. Miko scrambled to her feet and ran.
She and Jack reached the drawer, and he gave her a boost before climbing in. They crawled over datapads and miscellaneous tools until they were at the back of the drawer. They could hear the blaster fire and the clash of Cybertronians fighting. Miko’s ears were absolutely ringing with it.
“Jack...”
“We need to stay here. We’ll be crushed if any of those Cons see us.”
“J-Jack, that... those humans,” Miko whimpered. Jack looked back at her, and for the first time, Miko saw the tears brimming in his eyes.
“Not now,” he said quietly, “Please, Miko. Not right now.”
As if in answer, there was a deafening crash before a familiar voice shouted out, “Jack! Miko!” Ratchet sounded out of breath and both humans peeked out of the drawer to find him looking rather frantically around the lab. Jack got to his feet and waved to the medic. Ratchet was there in an instant, pulling the drawer open and scooping them both up. “I’m getting you out of here,” he said.
Miko didn’t fight it this time.
-
The moment they were through the groundbridge, Ratchet set both of them down and began frantically prepping the medical bay. Miko’s legs felt like rubber as she stumbled to the nearest wall.
Jack managed to take a few step before he fell to his knees and heaved. A thin line of bile splattered on the concrete and Miko felt herself start to retch as well. As her nausea squeezed her stomach, tears spilled down her face, and she could only whimper as she body arched with every heave.
At some point - she wasn’t sure when - Miko had been picked up and taken to the small bathroom that they sometimes used whenever they came to the base. She had curled up against the small metal toilet as she continued to throw up, her body sore and shaking with the effort.
After what felt like hours, she managed to gain enough control of herself that she was able to go to the sink and wash out her mouth. She splashed some water on her face in an effort to clean up a bit, but she still looked awful. Her eyes were pink and puffy, and her cheeks were sallow. She had a glisten to her skin, and she knew that it was sweat.
She stared at herself in the mirror. The longer she did, the harder it was to keep from crying again.
Miko suddenly didn’t want to be alone anymore, so she left the bathroom and wandered back towards the main area. She was about to turn the last corner when she heard the Bots speaking in hushed tones.
“I knew that the Cons were evil,” Bulkhead muttered, “but I didn’t think they were that bad.”
“The Decepticons have been known to practice unethical experiments of all sorts,” Ratchet grumbled. “Especially Shockwave.”
“Yeah, on other Cybertronians maybe.” Arcee sounded angry. The sound of an engine drew everyone’s attention a moment later, followed by the familiar sounds of transformation.
“I trust that Rafael made it home safely?” asked Optimus. Bumblebee answered with a quick chirp.
“Should we really keep this from him? I mean, he’s human too,” said Bulkhead.
“Absolutely not,” Ratchet hissed. “You saw what happened when Jack and Miko saw those things. They were completely devastated.”
“Ratchet is correct,” said Optimus, “While Rafael is quite mature for his age, he is still a youngling of his species. Such things do not need to be brought to light at such a young age.”
“And what about Miko?” Bulkhead snapped. “Frag, Optimus, how the pit am I supposed to help her? I don’t even know how I feel about this.” Bumblebee buzzed again before Bulkhead grumbled out “I don’t want to think about it.”
“So what do we do?” Arcee asked. “We have to do something. We can’t just leave those... those humans as they are.”
“I still can’t understand it,” Ratchet said. “I was able to grab a few of the data slugs that held information about the experiment, but none of it is making any sense.”
“What do you mean?”
“From the research I’ve done and what we’ve witnessed with Mack, fusion is a complicated process for even willing humans. How in Primus’ name did Shockwave manage to forcefully fuse them together?”
“I don’t think I want to know.” There were murmurs of agreement followed by a beat of silence.
“I will speak to Agent Fowler about our next move. We will need the humans’ knowledge if we are to help these fusions,” Optimus assured.
“...Can we help them?” Arcee asked quietly. No one spoke, and Miko could feel her eyes stinging again.
A hand rested against her shoulder. She looked up and found Jack standing next to her. “Are you okay?” he asked softly. She stared at him for a moment. His face started to blur as the tears began to fall. She shook her head before wrapping herself around him in a firm hug. Jack hugged back with equal ferver, squeezing her close to his chest as he rested his chin on her head.
Miko wasn’t okay.
Jack wasn’t okay.
But maybe, with time, they would be.
As long as they stayed together.
What if Jack, Miko, and Raf could fuse with the Autobots?
It comes as a shock to everyone when it’s revealed that humans can actually fuse with Cybertronians. After much deliberation, Ratchet concludes that it has to do with Unicron being the center of the planet and, in a way, responsible for the creation of humanity. Therefore, humans are compatible with Cybertronian physiology in the loosest terms possible.
Team Prime is at a bit of a loss on how to feel. On the one hand, they’ve seen fusion a few times - mostly with Mack - and they’ve gathered that it’s usually a pleasant experience. It’s apparently the sort of thing that you can’t ever really truly describe; you have to experience it to understand it.
On the other hand, there’s a bit of a disposition concerning how well fusion between a technological and organic being would work. It’s not like they have any examples of any kind to go off of for reference. Ratchet advises against it, mostly because they really have no idea what would happen. Optimus hesitantly agrees. There isn’t an all-out ban, per-say, but there is a sort of silent agreement to avoid the subject of fusion concerning them around the children. Smokescreen, Wheeljack, and Ultra Magnus are pulled over to the side to have the logistics of it all explained to them.
Miko really wants to try it, mostly because she wants to be a huge, ass-kicking robot, but also because it’s one of the few things about being human she wants to experience firsthand with her friends.
Jack is curious, but he’s a lot more subtle about it than Miko. He’s only fused with Miko a few times, and one time with both Miko and Rafael, so he doesn’t have a ton of experience. He’s of the mind that if he fuses with one of the bots, he’ll be there to help them through the experience.
Raf definitely wants to try fusion again, but he also wants to have more research done before anything happens. He’s also most likely to not really say anything unless someone outright asks him. He doesn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable, especially since not a lot of kids his age fuse very often.
The first two to fuse are, oddly enough, Jack and Arcee. They had just gotten back from a mission and had been celebrating. Arcee, still revved up, had offered to go for a ride, and Jack had agreed. Only Arcee took Jack’s hand before she began to transform, and before she had the chance, they were both glowing bright and phasing into each other.
They stayed like that for all of maybe a minute before splitting apart. Arcee is crying, and Jack’s doing his best to console her. The others try to talk to Arcee about it later, but she doesn’t want to discuss it at all.
It’s not until much later that they learn that she wasn’t upset about fusion, but overwhelmed with the feelings that it created in her. It’s the calmest she’s felt since Cliffjumper offlined. It was just so much.
Miko and Bulkhead were next. They were jamming out to Slash Monkey in the base when Miko tripped over her amp cord. Bulkhead caught her just in time, and the next thing they knew, they had fused. It’s a lot for them, and for the other bots. Bulkhead takes to fusion like a champ, and the others are much more intrigued now.
When Rafael and Bumblebee fuse for the first time, it’s during a car chase with a group of Vehicons. Bee had been driving down the highway on the way to their favorite spot to race Raf’s model car when he’d noticed they were being tailed. They’d tried to lose them before pulling off. Bee had tried to get Raf to hide, but Raf had been feeling rather brave, and refused to leave.
He’d taken one of Bee’s digits in his hand and told him they were in this together.
By the time the Vehicons showed up, the Autobot signal was distorted in a strange way, and the being they found was definitely NOT the Autobot scout.
Optimus is having a heart-to-heart with Jack shortly after the Orion Pax incident when Jack threw his arms around Optimus’ servo in a desperate embrace. No one was there to witness their fusion, but they stayed like that for a few minutes, simply enjoying the feeling that fusion allows two people to feel. They haven’t spoken about it to the others - not out of shame, but out of unspoken respect. Their fusion just felt like one of those things that they didn’t need to explain to others.
Ratchet first experience with fusion is the only one that doesn’t come as a surprise to him. It’s also not with any of the children. It’s with June Darby.
Ever since Rafael’s exposure to dark energon, June has been coming to the base to have weekly discussions with Ratchet about human biology and physiology. It’s during one of these visits that Ratchet gather the courage to ask about fusion. He explains how almost all of his teammates have done it already, and apart from his own curiosity, he feels a genuine sense of responsibility for their safety. He wants to understand fusion so he can properly help when he is needed.
June does her best to explain the logistics of fusion to him, as well as retelling her own personal experiences with fusion. She can tell Ratchet is getting frustrated due to lack of understanding, so she outright offers to fuse with him.
Once he gets past all his blustering and stalling, Ratchet agrees.
Needless to say, he and June become much closer friends afterwards.
All in all, fusion is a very emotional, personal thing for them all. Each relationship they have effects how they feel, appear, and behave.
But they wouldn’t trade it for the world.

(I might do longer drabbles later for the fusions of everyone, but I might just link it to an Ao3 post to save y’all the scrolling.)
Team prime and their human companions all Fuse into one! Like obsidian from SU!
Miko is definitely up for trying to fuse with everyone, but the boys and Ratchet especially are apprehensive.
Jack and Raf know just how hard fusion is to maintain with just two other people (they note the time all three of them fused after being reunited after Jasper fell)
Ratchet has no idea what will happen if more than one Cybertronian fuses with a human. Will they be able to unfuse? Or will they be stuck together? He doesn’t want to even imagine it, let alone test it.
Bee is down. Arcee, Bulkhead, and Optimus are on the fence. It’s an interesting idea, but they don’t like the idea of jumping in blind to something as important as fusion.
I’ve finally gathered the fusion oneshots I’ve written for both Mack and Sarbee and complied them into a series on Ao3! You can find them here!
Hope you all enjoy ^-^
What if humans could fuse? How do Optimus and the others react to seeing it for the first time? Do they ever get to see the kids fuse? I need answers!!!!
(I’ve been listening to Other Friends and Drift Away on loop for a week now!!! I’m gonna do a scenario with this one because I’m in the mood for short stories! Also, since you didn’t specify, I’m gonna go with TFP!)
What If Humans Could Fuse?
The kids had been excited to have their little “End of the School Year” party for a while now. Miko had been constantly whining about finals, while Jack and Rafael had offered silent reassurances to each other with pats on the back and exchanges of energy drinks and study tips.
But finally, after an agonizing week, all three kids had finished the last of their finals, and were ready to celebrate with a party at the Autobot base. Ultra Magnus had objected to hosting, but Optimus had assured him that it would do the others good to let loose a little bit. When he mentioned boosting moral, Ultra Magnus finally, albeit reluctantly agreed.
Miko had gone all out with decorations, having filled Bulkhead’s cab to the brim with boxes and packages filled with banners, streamers, balloons, and a whole bunch of other colorful decorations. Raf and Bee had gotten a cake and a few other snacks, and Jack had brought a collection of movies for when things winded down later that night.
The bots had actually had fun helping decorate, but everyone was happy when the party finally got underway. Soda and energon was passed around, and soon enough, everyone was having a great time. Optimus wasn’t really one for parties, but he’d stayed at the children’s behest. He found solace in polite conversation with Agent Fowler, Ratchet, and Ultra Magnus.
Rafael was showing Smokescreen how to do the robot, and Bumblebee was mimicking him perfectly. Bulkhead and Wheeljack were arguing over what to play next while Miko shuffled through the movies Jack had brought over, Jack sitting next to her to give his own opinions on each possibility. Arcee just watched from the sidelines with a small smirk, a small cube of energon in her servo.
The last song faded out before another came on. A beat drop sounded out of the speakers, and Miko’s head shot up, her eyes wide before her face split into a huge grin.
“I love this song!” she squealed as she leapt to her feet. She snatched Jack’s hand and pulled him to his feet, grinning at him. “Come on!” She spun on her heel and guided Jack out to an open space to start dancing. Jack laughed at her enthusiasm, but followed along, smiling as she lead him out into the open. Miko turned back to face him, wiggling her brow as she began to sway her hips to the music.
Jack snorted as she began to dance, caught off-guard by her goofy face. He only laughed harder when she started to do a ridiculous dance for the sole purpose of making him laugh even harder. She reached out for his hand then, spinning herself around and tugging on his arm to get him moving as well. Relenting, Jack began to sway as well, the smile never leaving his face. Miko’s own smile grew as she took his other hand and spun around with him, jumping in time with the beat of the music.
Arcee watched on with a feeling of content, happy to see her human partner having a good time. She watched as Miko and Jack spun around and around. Miko let out a joyful whoop as she leaned in and threw her arms around Jack’s neck. Jack wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her into the air.
In a flash of light, Miko and Jack disappeared, their forms melding together before revealing someone - something - entirely new. The stranger spun on their heel, laughing as they wrapped their arms around themself. They slowed to a stop and opened their eyes, revealing that they had a third eye in the middle of their forehead. Black, messy hair fell down their back into a long ponytail, and their clothing was a strange mashup of Jack’s t-shirt and jeans and Miko’s leggings, skirt, and tank top. Their smile slowly faded as they blinked, glancing down at themself. They held up their hands, assessing each hand as their brow furrowed in confusion.
“Oh,” they said quietly. They flexed their hands into fists. “This is…”
Everyone was staring.
Arcee was on her feet, her battle protocols whirring to life as she stared at the stranger in confusion.
Bulkhead and Wheeljack had stopped arguing to gape at the strange new human, Bulkhead’s mouth hanging open while Wheeljack rose a brow.
Bumblebee let out a low buzz of concern and wonder as his optics contracted with surprise. Smokescreen was frozen in the middle of an attempt at the Robot, openly gawking at them. Rafael was also staring, but a slow smile started to curl the corners of his mouth
Optimus could see Ultra Magnus’ posture straighten out of the corner of his eye, his second-in-command no doubt ready to take over the moment he considered this new person to be a threat. Ratchet, on the other hand, was staring with wide optics, spluttering out a confused noise. He himself simply watched as the stranger continued to admire their new appearance, holding out an arm to admire it before looking at something else.
Agent Fowler began to laugh, drawing everyone’s attention. He grinned down at the strange new human. “Looking good, you two,” he called, holding out a thumbs-up for them.
“Wow,” Raf breathed, running over to the stranger, despite Bee’s beep of protest. “You two look great together!” He stopped in front of them and tilted his head up to smile at them. “You’re so tall now!”
As Rafael began to babble on to the stranger, the Autobots slowly began to relax. If both Agent Fowler and Rafael were not concerned, then perhaps there was no danger. Optimus turned to Fowler, pursing his lips in a slight frown. “Agent Fowler, I believe an explanation is needed.”
Fowler chuckled as he met his optic. “You’ve heard of fusion, haven’t you?” Optimus blinked. He’d heard the term in passing. It was something humans did with each other, usually humans they were very close with. It sounded as if it was held in high regards in human culture, but Optimus had never been interested enough to press any of the humans for more information.
“Uh,” Smokescreen pointed at the strange new human. “What - um…” He looked over at Bumblebee. “Is that… Is that normal?” Bumblebee let out a series of beeps as he tilted his head from side to side.
“It’s perfectly normal,” Rafael said, turning towards his guardian. “Fusion’s the ultimate connection between humans! It’s super hard to do, though.” He turned back to the fusion. “Which is why I’m so surprised you two managed to do it accidentally.” His smile widened. “How does it feel, Jack? Miko? Erm… ”
“Mack,” the fusion said, smiling. “I like Mack.” They glanced down at their hands again. “It feels… I-I don’t even know how to describe it. Amazing. Scary. Awesome. Like I’m gonna be sick but in a good way.” A huge smile split across their face as they began to laugh, throwing back their head with unbridled joy.
“Miko?” Bulkhead finally asked, taking a step closer. “Is that really you?”
“It’s both of them,” Raf explained, reaching out to take Mack’s hand. Mack squeezed it back and looked up at the Wrecker.
“Sup, Bulk?” they said, that huge smile never leaving their face. Bulkhead simply stared, seemingly at a loss for words.
“Are you two stuck like that now?” Wheeljack asked, stepping around his friend to get a bit closer. Mack pursed their lips as they tilted their head in thought.
“No, I’m not. I… I think I can stop whenever I want to,” they explained before looking down at themself again. “I’ve never actually… I don’t think Jack or Miko have ever fused before. We’re- I’m something completely new. I think I want to stay like this for a bit.” They beamed up at Wheeljack, and Wheeljack couldn’t help but feel a little happy for them.
Smokescreen and Bumblebee came forward, having finally gotten a hold of their senses again and ready to ask a thousand different questions. Mack only laughed as they tried their best to answer them, slowly swaying from side to side, as if both Jack and Miko were still dancing even now.
Optimus and Ratchet shared a look, and Optimus found himself smiling warmly.
What a fascinating species the humans were.
Omg, l absolutely love the human cushion hc? But it gave me an idea (angst even?) about what would happen if the cons found about that humans could fuse?
(I really wanted to write more Mack, so here you go~)
Jack kept a firm grip on the console as the drill pushed forward, cutting through the rocks with an ear-piercing shriek. His heart was hammering in his chest, and his hands were still trembling from his encounter with Megatron. He could still hear the warlord’s voice ringing in his head.
“Think of the glory.”
What glory? What possible honor could there be in destroying someone while they were pinned under tons of rock with no way to properly defend themselves?
“Seize your moment. Optimus would.”
Jack had been so sure that he wouldn’t. Optimus believed in honor on the battlefield, in allowing his foes the chance to surrender. He wouldn’t have struck Megatron down like that.
Would he?
Optimus wanted the war to end more than anyone. Even though he put up an amazing front, Jack had learned some of the Prime’s tells. The way that his eyes would narrow when he spoke of the effect the war had on Cybertron, or how his body would tense whenever he spoke about the devastation Megatron was scheming for an upcoming conflict. Jack didn’t know much about being a Prime. He’d never really known how to ask Arcee without sounding like an ignorant kid. But Optimus seemed tired. Prepared to fight, to keep going for the others, but tired.
Would he have done it? Even if it meant going against his own beliefs, would Optimus have done what was necessary to end the war?
It was too late to go back. Jack had to find Arcee, Bulkhead, and Miko. There was no point in dwelling on the what-ifs, no matter how difficult it was.
The sound of thundering, metal footsteps became apparent as he drove further into the cave. He fiddled with the controls and turned the drill towards the sound. He just hoped that he was going towards a friend, and not a foe.
-
Miko gaped as Starscream was shoved back by a drill head, the seeker letting out a loud shriek as he was tossed aside. The drill came to a halt and Jack ran around the drill, his eyes wide as he looked between Miko, Bulkhead, and Starscream’s crumpled form.
“Jack! Get Miko out of here! Now!” Bulkhead shouted, grunting as he fought to keep the ceiling from toppling down on top of them. Miko’s eyes widened and she fought to take a deep breath as she witnessed her guardian’s struggle.
“We can’t leave Bulkhead!” she cried, hot tears slipping down her cheeks. Jack knelt down on the tread of the drill and held out a hand to her.
“GO!” Bulkhead shouted again. Miko’s lip wobbled, and she captured it between her teeth as she tried to keep it together for his sake.
“Come on! Come on!” Jack called out to her. Defeated, Miko shuffled over to the drill, reaching out towards Jack’s outstretched hand. She wanted to stay. She wanted to help. She couldn’t just leave her friend to die here!
Her hand slipped into Jack’s, and she felt his own hesitance, his own desire to help, before light engulfed them both. They melded into each other, their bodies disappearing, replaced with the taller, stronger form of Mack.
They blinked in surprise, glancing down at their form before looking up at Bulkhead, their eyes wide. Bulkhead stared at the fusion, shocked as to how Jack and Miko would be able to fuse at a time like this. He opened his mouth to speak when Starscream groaned and began to rise. Bulkhead muttered a curse under his breath before looking back at Mack. “Get out of here! NOW!”
Mack frowned up at Bulkhead before stumbling to their feet. They ran around the drill to the console and activated the drill. The bit began to spin as the engine whirred to life. Mack looked up from the computer to see Starscream staring at them. They froze, their shoulders locking up in terror as the seeker sneered at them.
“What is this?” Starscream spat as he pushed up onto his pedes. Mack’s hand shot out and slammed down on the reverse switch. The drill lurched backwards, climbing out of the cavern and back into the tunnel. Starscream made a grab for them, but more rocks began to fall down, blocking them from his reach.
Only one thought filled Mack in that moment.
‘Save them. Save them.’
They set the drill in a different direction, and sent the machine forward. They prayed that they were heading for the surface. They didn’t know how much longer Bulkhead and Arcee could last down here.
-
Starscream snarled as the tunnel caved in, denying him access to the strange thing that was operating the drill. He glared at the blocked passageway before looking over his shoulder at the Autobot Wrecker that was struggling to hold up the ceiling.
“And then there were two,” he hissed as he turned on his heel. Bulkhead glowered at him, and Starscream hummed as he rose a clawed hand to his chin. “Now, just what was that thing then, hm?” Bulkhead remained silent. Starscream took a step forward. “I would suggest that you answer the question, Autobot. Or else.”
“Or else what? You kill me, and you’ll bring down the cave on both of us,” Bulkhead spat. Starscream sneered at the logic in the Wrecker’s statement. “If you think I’m gonna beg for mercy, Starscream, forget it.”
The irony of the situation was not lost on Starscream. His wing flitted uncomfortably. “Erm, yes. Begging for mercy would be quite pathetic, wouldn’t it?” He forced an easy smirk to his face. “Well, you’re much more valuable to me alive.” He knelt before Bulkhead, bringing one of those sharp claws up to Bulkhead’s face. “Imagine Megatron’s appreciation when I not only rescue him, but deliver an Autobot. Perhaps I’ll even manage to catch that odd little thing that replaced your little vermin Miko.” Bulkhead glared at him as Starscream ran a single talon along the curve of Bulkhead’s jaw. “I believe that would restore my stature quite nicely.”
There was a thud and the whirr of a blaster coming online. Starscream froze, his smile disappearing as he slowly turned to find none other than Arcee, her blaster aimed directly at his spark.
“Don’t move, Starscream,” she snarled. Starscream turned to face her fully as she greeted Bulkhead and he greeted her back. She looked back at Starscream and brought the blaster closer to his face. “Raise your hands.”
He knew what she wanted. He groaned as he stared down the barrel of the gun.
-
Mack climbed out of Bulkhead’s cabin after they’d escaped the cave. They sucked in a deep breath of cool mountain air as Bulkhead and Arcee transformed back into root mode. Mack stared at the cave mouth, their hands still trembling from the residual terror.
“We could finish them. Here and now,” Arcee said.
“Shame we didn’t bring any grenades,” Bulkhead added.
Something tugged at Mack. They swallowed as a thought pushed to the forefront of their mind. “Would Optimus have… finished them?” they asked quietly. They could feel Jack’s growing uncertainty. In their mind’s eye, Mack saw Megatron’s ruby red optics staring at Jack in the darkness.
“Seize your moment. Optimus would.”
“No. He probably wouldn’t,” Arcee said after a moment, drawing Mack out of the memory. “Not like this.”
Relief flowed through them. “But,” they said, “Optimus wouldn’t rescue them either… Right?” They looked back up at Bulkhead. He sighed and rolled his shoulder. He looked down at Mack and frowned slightly.
“I meant to ask-” he said, “-Why did you fuse? I thought humans had to be happy to do that?”
“Well, normally yes. But that’s not always the case,” Mack explained. “Jack and Miko felt helpless. They were scared. They wanted to help get you out of there.” They looked down at their hands. “And I guess in that moment, Jack and Miko thought that I would be better suited to doing something. Like… Like being me would help them not feel so scared anymore.”
“And did it work?” Arcee asked, placing a hand on her hip. Mack glanced back towards the cave mouth, a faraway look in their eyes.
“…I’m not sure. Yes and no. It’s-It’s hard to explain.” They met Bulkhead’s thoughtful optics. The Wrecker hummed and nodded to Arcee.
“Let’s go home,” he said.
Mack was more than happy to follow.

Starscream whimpered as he was dragged out of the cavern. Megatron hadn’t spoken since he’d discovered Starscream holding up all of that rubble. He’d simply blasted it to bits before snatching the seeker by one of his wings and fleeing. It had taken cycles, but finally, finally, they had managed to escape the wretched tunnels. Starscream took a moment to circulate fresh air through his vents. He let out a pained warble as he was seized by the arm and thrown across the field, landing with a loud crash and rolling.
Starscream was trembling as he pulled himself up onto his hands and knees. He heard the whirr of Megatron’s fusion cannon, and looked up just in time to find it aimed at his helm. “W-Wait! Master, please!” he shrieked, cowering under the growing heat of the weapon. “I returned to save you!” The fusion cannon grew louder. “I searched for you! I was going to bring you the Autobot Bulkhead! A-And his pet human!”
“Why would I want a pathetic little organic, Starscream?” It was the first thing Megatron had said in hours, and the seeker felt a shiver of fear crawl up his intake.
“I-It did something! It melded with another human and made something else!” he sputtered out. “I-It was like a Combiner!” The sound of the cannon stopped growing.
“…Humans cannot combine,” Megatron said quietly. Starscream looked up at the warlord.
“These two did! I-I’ve never seen anything like it, Lord Megatron!” There was silence, and Starscream was sure that Megatron was choosing the perfect last words before he struck his second down. The whirr of the cannon die down, and a clawed hand came up to wrap around Starscream’s throat. He choked out a whine as he was lifted off of the ground. Megatron glowered at him, his optics fierce and red hot.
“If you value your life, you will tell me everything you saw,” Megatron spat as he brought him closer to his face, “Right. Now.”

(Should I continue? ;3c)
I think you should continue the fusion au. Also not connected to the last one but what if during the reunion at the beginning of season 3 Jack and Miko fuse into Mack then when they go to hug Raf all 3 of them fuse?
(I’ve gotten a couple requests for something along the lines of an Alexandrite/Obsidian human fusion, so I wrote a quick thing for my take on a fusion of all three kids!)
Who Says Three's A Crowd?
Rafael sat nearby as Ratchet worked quickly on the Harbinger’s console, transmitting their coordinates to Agent Fowler. He fiddled with the seam of his shirt as he listened to Ratchet quickly explain their situation.
Just then, Bumblebee came barging in, his optics wide.
[Ratchet! I just caught sight of an incoming ship!]
Ratchet turned towards the scout, his expression changing to one of shock. “What?” He quickly disconnected the line and followed Bee out of the ship. Rafael leapt from his perch, running to keep up. He could hear the roar of a ship’s engine as they walked out into the open near the downed Decepticon ship. Rafael could just make out a large ship descending down from the cloud cover when Bee held out a servo to stop him.
[Stay back] he ordered. Rafael knew better than to argue. The ship activated its landing gear as it drew near.
“It’s one of ours!” Ratchet exclaimed. The ship’s thrusters pivoted to slow its decent, sending sand and dust flying in thick clouds. Rafael shut his eyes as he brought his arms up to cover his face. He heard the thud of the landing gear making contact with the rough terrain, followed by the dying whine of the engine. The dust began to settle, and Raf hesitantly glanced up.
The ship was huge, even next to Bumblebee and Ratchet. There was a hiss and groan of metal as a lift of sorts began to descend, landing on the ground with a group of Autobots standing on it. Autobots and…
“Raf!” Rafael’s eyes brightened as he saw both Miko and Jack standing at the front with the others. Miko leapt off the platform and ran straight towards him. Raf smiled as he ran out to meet them halfway. Miko’s arms slipped around his middle before she lifted him up in a lung-crushing hug. He let a surprised laugh burst out as his glasses wobbled nose his nose. She set him down then, but kept her hands on his shoulders as she looked over him, seeming to be checking him for any injuries.
“Girl’s got a grip, doesn’t she?” Jack chuckled. Rafael smirked at the teen as he walked up behind Miko. She stepped to the side to allow the boys to grasp hands and pull each other into a back-thumping hug. Jack pulled back and smiled down at Rafael, still squeezing his hand. Rafael felt like his heart was filled to bursting with relief and joy. They were safe. His friends were safe.
He saw Miko move out of the corner of his eye, and Raf turned just in time to see her wrap her arms around both of them, bringing them in for another hug. Both he and Jack gladly returned the gesture. Rafael’s cheeks ached with how much he was smiling. He felt so happy in this moment. So safe and complete.
And then he felt something else.
It was warm, and bright, and it should have scared him, but he could only be happy as he let it encompass his whole body.
Bumblebee let out a buzz of awe as all three kids lit up and melded together, the light fading away to reveal a strange looking human that was at least a foot taller than Mack. Their hair was a wild, messy ponytail of black that faded into brown and pink in a strange sort of ombre. They had five eyes now - an extra pair under the normal ones, where their cheeks began, and the single eye in the middle of their forehead that Mack always had for some reason. They wore a large pair of glasses that covered the lower four eyes and it fell down the bridge of their nose.
Their clothes were an even odder mix-and-match of all three children’s outfits, creating a blend of bright colors, long, baggy sleeves, and scuffed up sneakers. The strangest thing though, was their arms. They had two arms set in the normal spot for a human, but underneath was another pair. It was an odd sight, and the new fusion quickly took notice of all of the optics on them.
“Well, uh,” Wheeljack said in an attempt to break the awkward silence, “That’s one way to say hi, I guess.”
The fusion smiled shyly as they pushed their glasses up the bridge of their nose with one of their four arms.
[What do we call you then?] Bee asked, and the fusion blinked in surprise, because they could understand him completely, which Miko and Jack hadn’t been able to do before. They glanced down at their hands and hummed in thought.
“I think… I might need some time to come up with something. Rafael, Jack, and Miko aren’t names that blend very well.” They held up their hands, their fingers laced together on either side as they smiled knowingly. “I think I like you…” they said softly to themself.
The Autobots went on with their greetings, happy to give the kids time to learn their new name and to become accustomed to this new, exciting thing they had become. Together.

(I tried to think of something to name this new fusion, but I honestly have no ideas)
