Mack really is the damn goat. I struggle at times to believe we got a character like him; his and Aaron's friendship, the, albeit one-sided, flirting, the way he's only rivalled by Rob when it comes to the ability to get Aaron to smile, but mostly the fact that he's our representative in the village, actively trying to get Robron back together. I'd do anything for him. qq

me thinks Mack doth seem a bit jealous lately. admittedly it could just be him being protective of Aaron, but idk. it's annoying though how they hardly interacted for months and suddenly they're back to being best friends and back to their tongue-in-cheek flirting, "don't be jealous, I know how you get." it took me aback how Mack even said he loved Aaron, even if it was in an indirect way, "that's why I love you." if they're going to be teasing us this way it's going to be even harder to give af about Aaron and John.

I'm very intrigued by Mackaron at this point because... idk, the fact that the word jealousy came up between Charity and Mack, her calling his and Aaron's relationship a bromance, and the way he seemed defensive about it. the way he really seems to have a slightly too personal issue with John. and I simply can't forget/ignore the way Mack flirted constantly with Aaron before he got together with Charity, and how their dynamic is far from a "normal" platonic male friendship, the way flirtatious comments are still a big part of their banter. also the scene at Aaron's flat really made me go eyes emoji for the first half before I disappointedly realized what was going on, because I've always imagined that if feelings got revealed between them, it would be in Aaron's flat and in the context of Mack having an issue with someone Aaron's dating, and Aaron joking like "are you jealous?" similarly to how Mack joked with Charity, and then Mack not really being amused. but as always I'm torn because Charity is my favourite female character and lately Mackity have been less boring again, so idk. very torn between the two ships. also torn because Ed lacks in close male friendships, and I do love close platonic male friendships in fiction overall. it's just that platonic male friendships usually don't include a lot of flirting.

“HONEY IM HOME!”

Mackenzie stumbled into mill cottage it was 03:00 in the morning, and Waiting for him was a very angry looking Aaron.

“What time do you call this and why in the hell is your hand bleeding?”

Mackenzie who had fallen onto the floor looked at his hand, then slammed it back down! “Well it’s bleeding because I cut it!” He replied drunkly. Rolling around on the floor.

The Younger man sighed getting off the sofa to help his Drunken boyfriend. The Scotsman let him grab his shoulder to hoist him upright,but it wasn’t exactly easy to manoeuvre him. Aaron sighs how did this idiot manage to once again injure himself? These days it was a miracle he wasn’t dead!

Mackenzie squirmed when Aaron handled him clearly he wasn’t in the mood to be dragged around. “Let go I ca-uh walk myself!” He insisted once again stumbling over his own two feet. The Dingle rubbed the back of his head trying to get a grip on Scotsman. “Yeah nice try mister, but laying face down on the floor doesn’t count as moving I’m afraid.”

“Hey I-I walk good!” Mackenzie continues to insist,even though at this point Aaron had turned into his legs. “Whatever buddy!” The younger man laughed now carrying the Scott up the stairs.

Once in Aaron’s room Mackenzie was sat on the bed giggling to himself about god knows what. While the Dingle rummaged through the bathroom cabinet looking for the first aid box.

He sat down beside the Scotsman, cleaning up his wounded hand and dressing it up with a bandage. “Ouch that hurts!” Mack complained wincing at the alcohol disinfect wipe he used to clean the cut.

“Oh don’t be such a baby.” Aaron laughed putting the medical supplies back into the box, and placing it back into the cupboard. Mackenzie stuck out his tounge childishly before rolling over the bed. He laid at an awkward angle fiddling with his trouser button, before yanking it open and lazily began pulling them off.

The younger man rolled his eyes and put a stop to it before doing it for him instead. He awkwardly undressed his intoxicated boyfriend and put him into his pyjamas. He that somehow while he was doing this Mackenzie conced out was fast asleep snoring away into the pillows.

He smiled slightly pulling the covers over him and kissed his forehead sweetly.

“Night you moron” He said knowing exactly what he was in for in the morning, crawling in beside him it didn’t take long before He drifted off as well.

It was nearly past noon the next day, Aaron was in the kitchen cooking bacon hoping that the smell would awake Mackenzie from his alcohol induced coma.

His plan had clearly worked, because Long and behold a door could be heard opening from upstairs, and emerging from it was none other than a very hungover Scott.

“Morning!” Aaron shouts from the top of his lungs, making Mackenzie wince at the sound, covering his head with the blanket he had walked out of the bedroom with. His hair was a mess and was not jelled back in its usual fashion instead Lazy locks of brown hair practically plastered on his face.

“Shush inside voice” He hoarsely whispers going into the cupboard for some aspirin. His head pounding with every step that he made.

“Sore head ? not surprised! No more pub for you for a few days!”

The Scotsman gave him a death glare then immediately bent over, trying to stop the bile that was about to spill out of his mouth.

“Bathroom!” Aaron quickly commanded. Dramatically stepping away from his cooker,pointing upstairs. He didn’t need to be told twice before he knew it the Scotsman was upstairs abusing the poor toilet with the contents of his stomach from the previous day.

After around 20 minutes of dry heaving Mackenzie was sat on the sofa snuggling into Aaron . The younger man looked at him fondly as he cuddled closer he may be a pain but he sure was His pain.

“Aaron” Mackenzie sleepily questioned.

“Yeah?” He smiled.

“Wanna go to the pub?”

"Where you going all dressed up" Ryan asked.

"I'm meeting that old school friend I told you about Ryan"

"Was that you I heard crying last night in bed? Ryan asked "Have you heard from Aaron yet?"

"No Ryan. Sorry I didnt mean to disturb you. I was so hurt when Aaron ignored my birthday. Apparantly he preferred Ben's company to mine. I Saw him briefly at the bonfire" he told Ryan. "He acted as if nothing had happened and he said he wants us to get back together so I told him I need to take it slow. He doesn't realise how much he's hurting me and I haven't heard from him since then. I'm absolutely gutted. He didn't even send me a Birthday card and that really hurt. "

"Well maybe this friend will come good" said Ryan. "You cant spend your life waiting for his moods to pass. Does this mean you wont be giving him a share in the pub"

"No. I promised him a share and I dont go back on promises"

"You're too soft for your own good Mack." Ryan replied.

Mack made his way to the cafe to meet Ian.

"Wow! You havent changed Mack still as beautiful as ever" said a very handsome Ian.

Mack admired Ian's perfectly toned body which was accentuated with a skin tight tee shirt.

The two chatted away. "Did you marry Jeanie then?" Asked Mack.

"Yes but it didnt last, I had an affair with a married man and she threw me out, well more than one man actually. In those days it was unthinkable for a gay man to come out, so I went through with the whole marriage thing. I heard you came into some money. You wouldnt want to see an old friend struggle would you I'm thinking of investing but I have a cash flow problem and need a cash injection"

"My moneys all tied up" Mack said feeling uneasy and was glad when Ian said he was going. "I'll walk to your car with you" Mack said following Ian out.

"That's better I've got you all to myself now and nobody gaping at us" said Ian who grabbed Mack and roughly shoved him against a wall and tried to kiss him.

"Gerroff me!" Shouted Mack who felt powerless.

"You know you want me" snarled Ian. "You couldnt take your eyes off me in there." And don't tell me you're not like me coz I saw you with that bloke at the bonfire you were kissing him. Come on Mackenzie what's your problem?"

"Please, I really dont want to" cried Mack who was finding it harder and harder to fight him off. "You've got me wrong"

All of a sudden Cain came hurtling out of nowhere and grabbed Ian and flung him to the floor. "If you know what's good for you you will get in that fancy car of yours and get as far away from here as possible, before I do you some real damage" snarled Cain.

"Thank God" said Mack to Cain. "You know I'm no fighter. He wanted money and when I refused he got nasty. He tried to molest me, if you hadn't come along God knows what he would have done. He overpowered me so quickly" said a grateful Mack.

"You need to stand up for yourself Mack, now you've come into money all sorts of idiots will be coming out of the woodwork to try get you into bed and blackmail you."

" You are right Cain but I trust everyone, I'm too soft. "Come on Let me buy you a drink"

When Mack and Cain got to the pub Aaron was sitting in the corner with Ben. Ben had his arm around Aaron and they were sitting really close together and only had eyes for each other.

Mack's eyes filled up with tears. "This is unbearable" he thought "I can't stay and watch this Cain I'm going before Aaron sees me. Here's some money for a drink"

Mack sat down in the house all alone. "How can he lead me on like this" he cried to himself, wiping his tears away.

"Oh who is at the flipping door" he thought. Mack opened the door to see a sheepish looking Aaron.

" How can you be so heartless" shouted Mack. "Come to rub it in have you. I saw you and Ben snogging in the corner of the pub. Do you get off by hurting me?"

"Please Mack I'm truly sorry" Aaron pleaded. "I came to the cafe to tell you I was sorry. I was so jealous when I saw you and that Scottish guy laughing and joking so I left. 'Apparantly he's been telling everyone you were his new boyfriend and you were going into business together. That's when I met up with Ben in the pub"

"It's all lies I havent seen him in years. I didnt see you come in Aaron, sorry" said Mack.

"It's me that's sorry for going off on one but he'd told everyone you were together and I was in a bad mood when I saw you and him in the cafe I really did think you and him were an item. I couldn't get it out of my head when you said he was the first person you fell in love with. I didnt see you come in the pub"

"No because you were snogging that moron" said Mack.

"I was well over him when he got Jeanie pregnant. It was only a schoolboy crush" explained Mack. "I honestly didn't sleep with him and he didn't even know how I felt about him. We were just schoolboy friends and I had no idea he was gay. Dont even know what he was doing down here."

"I should never taken it out on you." said Aaron "and I'm so sorry I missed your birthday. Am I forgiven?"

"You know you are" said Mack taking Aaron's hand and pulling him towards him. "I can't bear it when you hurt me. You mean so much to me and I love you."

"I love you too Mack and I'm sorry. I dont know what comes over me" said Aaron. I was off my head with jealousy when I saw you with Ian" said Aaron who by this time was filling up with tears.

"Just look at us" said Aaron "two blubbering idiots. I saw Cain and he told me what happened. If I'd have been there I would be looking at a jail sentence, I'm so sorry Mack."

"Let's go upstairs and you can show me how sorry you are and make up for missing my birthday" Mackenzie said pulling Aaron towards the stairs. "I've missed you so much"
