🎃 movie night in 1994 🎃 you can decide what the babies are watching, but in my head it's The Crow 🐦 I just needed to draw something that brought back some feeling of comfort and happiness from my childhood, to escape the absolute shitshow that is French politics right now 🫠 and I loved nothing more as a child than to bury myself underneath all the pillows and blankets of the house with my plushies to watch 'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen' for the umpteenth time. So, here is a rendition I guess.

I hope it can bring comfort to you as well to see smol Artemis and Juliet enjoying a movie (Artemis being super focused as always, and Juliet being absolutely unable to sit still and contorting in weird yoga positions also as always) 💜 (did my best with the TV lighting but on my computer screen I feel like it looks like shit. well, I'll have to live with it, I've already spend an entire weekend on this thing)

if you need updates on french politics or just wanna know why we are all posting about guillotines without context:

about 2 months ago were legislative elections. you elect deputies, who are part of 1 of 2 chambers laws must go through to get accepted and the biggest potential barrage to laws. they are considered the prime representants of the french people, and the prime minister is traditionally from the party in majority, which makes sense

in a never-seen-in-a-decade event, the biggest leftist parties coalesced into an aliance that won these elections, unexpectedly outclassing both the presidential party and the far right coalition

but this is just context. now cometh the time for blood

for two months, the government tried to argue, to not elect a leftist prime minister, to delay things, rejecting candidate proposition and always hinting at this or that right winger being a better pick. they said "we can't with the olympics" to buy some time. they pointed to a "problematic" (slightly mean and egocentric) sub-party of the aliance, and ignored it when said sub-party withdrew and said no member would become part of the new government. they have stopped looking for excuses weeks ago. they're just like "well if these people become minister the policies will change!" which. duh. people were sensing the incoming shitfest and they were right: a right wing old guy just got anounced as new prime minister. not saying all old guys are bad, but this one was old enough to have voted against the legalisation of homosexuality apparently so.

we've been waving the phrase "we've killed kings for less than that" around for a while now but we're fucking right and saying this is a denial of democracy is barely an exageration

tldr: the left won but a right winger is now prime minister because the government didn't feel like honoring the voice of the people and decided to side with their friends instead

So, some of you might wonder “wtf is going on french people?”

TLDR : Macron is a fucker, people are right.

I really don’t know how international media retranscribe this but I’ll try to give you my own opinion as a french girl and I try to be as understandable as I can because english isn’t my mother tongue since I speak baguette.

This dude is Emmanuel Macron, apparently he is our president, well I didn’t vote for him nor in the first round nor in the second one, I’d rather go for a blank vote. So, to make it clear, here is the first round result:

And it doesn’t count aaaaaaaall the people who didn’t vote because fuck those guys they’re shit. On the second round there was nearly 40% of people who didn’t vote, or blank vote (like me).

And yeah you could argue “guuuuuuurl wtf why didn’t you vote?” and yeah I know many people died for me to get the opportunity to vote especially as a woman but no. Macron or Lepen is the same old shit, I couldn’t vote for any of them it was too hard for me to take this responsability, but still I did get to the vote post (how do you say this?).

AAAAANYWAAAAY all this to show you that we didn’t want him for president, he get elected because Marine Lepen is a fuckin racist and kinda fascist too (but it’s only my opinion :v ).

So nobody likes him and he just goes on and on give to people more and more taxes buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut if you’re lucky enough to be rich AF SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER THERE IS NO MORE TAX ON THIS FOR YA.

Yaaaaaaaaay ! 

And know this fucker come and tell us “hey guess what, we need to do something for the environment and guess who is lucky enough to do this somethiiiiing?” Yeah right this guy increase gas tax because ENVIRONMENT. So, tbh I don’t really give a shit about it cause I live in Lyon wich is a pretty big city so I don’t have nor I need any car. But I came from a lil town where if you don’t have car YOU CAN’T WORK. So I can understand. 

So since we’re children of the revolution, we tends to go on the street really easily so can’t you see that comin? Yeah MANY people in the street everywhere. Media talked a lot about Paris but it’s everywhere, most of manifestation are peacful, but sometime... Like a prefecture was burnt (I don’t know if there is an english term for that), and tbh since the government doesn’t give a shit, it’s going worst this week end. People are mad, people are ANGRY AF, and I can relate.

So yeah there is violence, you can’t make and omelette (du fromage) without breaks a few eggs, and tbh most of the shop/restaurant or whatever who was vandalized were in les champs elysées so... rich people were hit by that, so I don’t give a fuck plus they got insurance sooooooooo...

Anyway we’re angry af and violence won’t stop until the government do something for us, but tbh I think the only thing they can do now is Macron to resign.
