1996 Expectations" by Madeline Goldstein: A Haunting Descent into Desire and Darkness
"1996 Expectations," the latest single by Madeline Goldstein, is a haunting glimpse into the artist's world, a follow-up to the eerie "Other World" EP of 2023. In this new piece, Goldstein crafts a sound that melds synthpop, post-punk, and electronic undertones, staying true to her path of raw emotion and unyielding devotion.
The song feels like a dark corridor, filled with shadows of desire, the sting of agony, and a restless yearning for change. It's both urgent and driven, painting a stark portrait of inner turmoil and the unseen battles of the mind. Each note, each word, is a step deeper into a nightmarish dreamscape where emotion reigns, and escape is a distant hope.

A POST_PUNK EXPRESS… // LUST FOR YOUTH are here w/ a new standalone single titled “ACCIDENTAL WIN” (@sacredbones) & it finds the Copenhagen-based duo of Hannes Norrvide & Malthe Fische spreading their “Scandinavian antidepressants” across 3 ½ mins of surprisingly giddy ElectroPop that brings plenty of not-so-accidental sheen to these synth_poppin proceedings. “SEED OF DOUBT” is a new standalone single from @madelinegoldstein_ & it finds the Los Angeles-based artist sharpening her blade while bringing us a sultry slice of dark_waving SynthPop that aims to drive us to the nearest darkened dancefloor w/ its throbbing synths, slapped backbeat & stoically purred vocals which are on full display throughout @inhalt.us aesthetically apt production. @veiloflightmusic are back w/ “APRICOT KISS,” the lead single/track from their forthcoming LP titled ‘Sundancing’ (2/24 @avant_records) & it finds the Zurich-based duo further pushing their electro_poppin ways towards the Big Tent w/ a syncopated blast of jittery NuRomance the begs to be played w/ the top down as you drive to the Venice Beach set of that fever-dream-ish New Order x Baywatch video shoot or at some vine covered outdoor café.
