Grogan’s Tourist Court in Madison, North Carolina, 1930′s/40′s & today.

Built in 1931, this motel is now dilapidated and has been abandoned for the last few decades (since the 80′s, if not earlier). Each room had a connecting garage and allegedly, Mr. and Mrs. Grogan would open your garage for you before arrival to allow you to have as much privacy as possible during your stay, allowing for many illicit affairs to occur here. Item: Fire Extinguisher Distribution / Portable Fire Extinguisher

Statement: The community started stationing fire extinguishers everywhere when small fires became frequent due to air and water methane saturation. Because the risk of fire or spontaneous combustion became so high, everyone needs to be in arms’ reach of fire extinguishers. Each street is outposted with regular extinguishers, and each person is advised to carry a mini-extinguisher around with them at all times for emergencies. However, these, provisions were not enough to contend with the effects of the Gas Well Fire of 2040, as these stores were concentrated in the town center and in residences.
