hi my DnD child is a halfling barbarian named Ardith she was found in a barrel on a cargo barge as a baby and given to a dwarf blacksmith until her family was found but they never were so she ended up being raised by dwarves in a smithy so she's super stronk and made her own armor and warhammer (which was supposed to be for a customer but she stole it when she ran away oops)
I love tiny barbarians they are doing God’s work. She deserves her own armor, if she doesn’t even have her own family :( But I’m sure the dwarves gave her the best childhood they could! And she’s a rad and powerful blacksmith now!
Hi! Do you have any advice for SMs re: business cards? How essential are they for someone who's just starting out, and is there anything I should avoid? (I'm a little over a year out of school and I take all kinds of jobs in tech theatre, but I describe myself as a stage manager who sometimes wears other hats.) ((Thank you!))
There’s no harm in having them -- especially if you’re gigging around a lot or still going to those mass-interview/portfolio review events (USITT and the like). I remember ordering a pack when after my first internship and never making it to the end of the box. So like, don’t freak out if you don’t have them. But know that if you buy them they might last you quite a while, so be smart about whatcha get. And also, why not?
Personally, I would avoid a headshot of any kind on your business cards or resumes as a technician. To each their own.
Include your name (printed very VERY clearly), your email address, and the phone number you can be reached at. As a young stage manager, I would avoid mailing address unless you’re positive that you aren’t planning on moving. Which is not always easy to guarantee at the beginning of your career.
If there is something you can include to make the card memorable or unique to you -- go for it! @backstageleft tends to have some pretty sweet cards made up for USITT, if I recall.
Sadi: I’m on six beta blockers and a large iced coffee. I have no idea what I’m here for.
Belgarath: Frankly, Silk, it’s been a little difficult to trust you after that episode last summer.
Silk: And what was that?
Belgarath: The one where you faked your own death to have an Edible Arrangement sent to your home.
Silk: You watch your mouth in my house, Belgarath.
Belgarath: …this is Garion’s house.
Who the fuck sent that ask? Eat shit and choke, demon.
And this is why I love you.
time for my biweekly plea for whoever's hoarding my old URL to give it back :(
