Wreck of a week but here is some Drow Posting

been sitting on this a little while redoing all the critters here in a style more comfortable to me than the cutesy stuff this creature is based off of a maned wolf and a dhole! click on the expand button to learn a little more

The White Dog of The Steppes, or Kirkur in Obesi, is an insectivorous member of the Ferrucyon genus. It cannot interbreed with domestic dogs or companion foxes. It is flat-footed with mobile joints, a highly extendable jaw, and long limbs. It's thick, brightly colored fur and short face allow it to survive the extreme cold of Maelgwn's alpine steppes. They have five toes on front and back feet, with a semi opposable thumb on both. It primarily inhabits the northeastern region of Obenember, near Kete. There, it occasionally competes with humans, Iligir, and Kiriq for territory, in which it usually looses. Although the Kirkur is tall, it is not particularly muscular. These solitary animals are built for flighty escapes and avoidance, including from each other. They mark their territories through cheek rubbing and urine spray. Kirkur mate once a year during spring, and gestate only for about two weeks. The young are numerous, blind, and small. The family (including both parents) will remain together for about three months.

Anemone & Maelgwn (She/Her)

Maelgwn is a hellhound and psychopomp tending to the souls of a local region. She is known colloquially as "The Yellow Death" by locals. After a time, she comes to resent her position and the protective nature of a psychopomp. She finds a way to use the death magic designated by her role to separate out the part of her soul that makes her a hellhound. Her goal is to give up her protective nature, to become something that can care only about herself. In doing so she becomes Anemone. Anemone is a dog. With the part of her soul that makes her a hellhound segmented out, Anemone forgets her past and that she was Maelgwn. Despite Maelgwns goals, her protective nature holds true, but instead she has become unable to truly consider consequences before they happen (for herself, if not for others). With her soul fractured, Anemone is extremely absent minded and falls easily to her animal instincts. Without a past, she takes on the name Anemone after finding an interest in sea life. Now she mostly just follows along with whatever stray thoughts her mind leads her towards. She will bite you even though she promised she wouldn't. She kinds of wishes she was a shark. She doesn't really know how to not be annoying.

The part of Maelgwn that was separated out to become Anemone still exists and is still a part of her body - if no longer a part of her mind. It takes the form of the same magic Maelgwn used to separate split their soul, and as a dark presence on her fur and skin. While not conscious, it is invested in keeping Anemone alive. If she walked infront of an oncoming car, it would protect her by moving the car away. If a stranger tried to take advantage of her, it would guide her away and to safety. If she got into a fight, it would give her the power she needed to stay alive as best it could.

Eventually, Anemone does learn of her history. Shes remorseful. She realizes that she is a mistake, and that almost all of her hardships are caused by something that could - theoretically - be undone. She attempts to redo the same spell Maelgwn had done but in reverse - to merge her soul back together. But, in doing so, she separates the two parts even further - the separated aspect no longer even being a part of her body.

In this state, Anemone loses all sense of self, any understanding of consequence past or future, and gives in whole to any idea or instinct she could have. She becomes the selfish thing Maelgwn had hoped to become and she just ends up hurting herself and others.

Eventually, she is reconnected with the disconnected part of her soul, and with that she comes back to her senses. She realizes that its impossible for her to go back, that she could never become Maelgwn again - while she was able to come back to how she was before losing all sense of self, its impossible to simply reverse the damage that was done to her soul that far.

Instead, she reconciles to build on her past instead, take everything she was before, and build off it. To live a happy and fulfilling life as Anemone working hand in hand with the broken off part of her soul so they can heal and become a new complete thing.
