This isn't quite last line, because I've been ADHD bouncing around between a bunch of different scenes, and now I've got a bunch of half finished paragraphs and floater lines. But anyway:

["...] You seem to know your way around a map. Got any other suggestions?”
Maeve leaned in to the captain’s map, scrolling through the route and making a few tweaks.
The captain nodded along. “I mean, if you think it’s worth the risk. You sure know a lot about Taros’s holds for a lady’s knight.”
Maeve’s neck prickled slightly. “Uh. Yeah—” and by the wall, Cassian gave a derisive laugh.
“Of course she does, she was one of their soldiers.”
hey! this is chance & here’s this week’s prompt. pick one of your ocs. how would they react if they suddenly appeared right next to you, in the modern world? what would happen?
Oof.
Okay—so if they KNEW WHO I WAS and that I’m responsible for their woes…. Nothing good. Darcy would probably actually try and kill me. She’s from a world that severely messed up and she’s not very happy there right now.
If she didn’t know that I’ve got my fingers all over her reality, we’d probably get on just fine, and she’d probably be pretty chill with the break from fighting monsters and fascists. Then she’d probably want to go back because she’d be really worried about everyone that was left behind in her reality.
Maeve, even if she knew that I’m kind a god to her reality, would probably just roll with it? Because she comes from a universe where there are already gods meddling in people’s lives. She probably wouldn’t be thrilled, but wouldn’t attempt bodily harm immediately. I think she’d be a little shook about being in a world without magic, but eventually would be chill with that too, cause she has a… rocky relationship with her own magic and wouldn’t be upset if it just disappeared. Would ALSO be distressed about everyone she left behind, though.
Darcy would adjust to this reality better, since the only difference between this one and hers is that hers has been overrun by inter dimensional monsters and society collapsed.
Maeve would probably have a tougher time adjusting, since she’s used to things like space travel and teleportation and telepathy. Not to mention magical healing and whatnot.
What's a scene you've written with Banter/Arguing between characters that you're most Proud of? (And would you like to share it?)
I love a good back and forth scene between characters :')
Ooooooh man, you caught me at a great time for banter/arguing, because the last few scenes that I've been working on have been mostly interpersonal dynamics, relationship development, and so on, all while the characters are stuck on a space ship under some very trying circumstances.
More below:
Maeve and Marcel probably have the most interesting banter/arguments, while Maeve and Cassian are just... at each other's throats most of the time, probably contemplating actual murder.
It's hard to pick just one that I enjoyed, because they all have such different flavors, and different contexts. But one thing that most of them have in common is that it's these two characters learning how to talk to each other again after a long time apart.
I can share a little bit of one without giving too much away.
Favorite Curse: Shit, or something to do with the Gods.
5’10”, Athletic. Blond bob and green eyes. Various scars, including a nose scare, and a chin scar (nose from fighting, chin from something dumb).
Best Friend: T’yreisel "Tyr" Bassir, also a knight. They also sleep together sometimes.
Gay.
Born in the Tarosi Empire, Grew up in Petra (Independent Nation on the Planet Aida).
Has a hard time feeling like she actually belongs in any of the places she’s lived.
She’s an extrovert, and knows a lot of people. She makes friends easily. Exuberant.
Loves: Reading, Savory foods, Coffee, Bacon (tried it for the first time when she went into service for the Empire), Parties, good drinks.
Hates: The Empire’s war, small spaces, being underground, damp clothes, coffee with too much milk, her magic.
Maeve trained as a knight from 11 onward. She’s proficient with multiple weapons, including staff, longsword, most firearms. Her preferred weapon is a Rapier and Dagger.
She was assigned to Princess Marcelene shortly after beginning training as a page. They grew up together. Maeve has had a crush on Marcel since she was 17. No, it hasn’t gone away.
She was conscripted into the Tarosi Empire’s army when she was 19, as part of Petra’s truce with the Empire. She served three years in the Empire’s Cavalry, and somehow managed to survive.
Maeve is a Bastard (mother was from a Tarosi noble family, and had a fling with a Petran knight.) Maeve’s father was killed in a battle, and her mother married a Petran Lord after Maeve was born. She has four younger half siblings that she grew up with.
Maeve is a fire elementist, but keeps it super secret, because the Empire has pretty much outlawed Elemency. Since she’s been hiding it for so long, she’s not very strong or skilled and is generally pretty against using her magic.
Feel free to ask her (or me) any questions!
Up next is Marcelene.
Maeve is from my book The Fire Between Stars (TFBS), and my story Universe The Ember Arcanum (TEA).
