Puppy was mad at Hotch for being too busy the day before so she spent the day following and playing with David instead of Hotch making him sad and stricter than usual on his men
As usual, Hotch was up and working before you'd even rolled out of your basket.
Chomping on your breakfast with a frown covering your face, Dave patted the top of your head as he greeted you. The small bout of attention tore you away from your bowl as you started following Rossi around.
Being Aaron's right-hand man, the rest of the staff didn't question or bat an eye at the way you were following him around for the entirety of the day. They knew how busy their boss had been lately and the type of stress he'd been put under.
But when Aaron found the time to pull away from his office, hoping that a little playtime with you could lighten his mood and relax him a tad, he found you playing fetch with Dave.
He didn't say a single word, nor did he join. He only observed the scene from afar as he walked to his kitchen to pour himself a steaming cup of coffee. Noticing the barely touched food, he felt the annoyance bubble in him.
The following morning you didn't understand why he hadn't left the bedroom when you woke up. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting.
When you followed him out, he kept a stern look on his face, barely greeting his men, sometimes even barking foul words at them for stepping the slightest bit out of line. It confused you as you weren't used to him sounding so mean, not even when you'd done something against the rules.
In reality, it all stemmed from Hotch's jealousy from seeing you look so happy while playing with David yesterday, and now everyone had to pay the price. Even you. You didn't get to run freely around the house for the next couple of weeks, always having to stay in the same room as him to make sure none of that nonsense would be repeated again.
