Everyone and their mom makes fun of them for their respective terrible tastes. At least one of the Rocket Admins has called Guzma a gold digger. Plumeria laughed for an hour straight when she found out.

I read a fic once and subsequently latched onto the idea that they accidentally got whatever the pokemon equivalent of vegas married is while they were drunk, either before the Rainbow Rocket fiasco, or at some point after.

As much as everyone jokes about it, Guzma has starch supporters in Silver, who likes him well enough and hopes he'll mellow his dad down, and Maxie, who was so estatic about the Ariana/Giovanni divorce that he's just happy to be here.

Generally, each of their teams think that the presence of the other makes them far less intimidating. Giovanni loses his entire reputation by standing next to this wannabe gangster dude. Team Skull sees this random shady buisinessman and thinks he looks so lame it makes Guzma lame by association.

Like I said, it's not my favourite, but it's cool. I really only like it when the artist/writer portrays them accurate to their characters as opposed to changing them entirely to fit eachother, because it feels like that's what happens a lot with this ship specifically.

I went to find the ship name for Gio & Ariana and I found out that this is also called UltraRogueShipping for some reason? I've never heard anyone call them that but I also rarely see fanworks for them so,, I gave most of my reasoning on Guzma's but also I love the idea that Guzma found this random dude to be his sugar daddy, saw Silver and went "Yeah, okay, gotta stick around, that kid needs someone to tell him he's doing a good job."
