Episode 150, Cul-de-Sac. Finally, the long awaited sequel to the Homophobic Vase, Homophobic Suburb.
Everyone talks about homophobic vase but no one talks about homophobic suburban maze
Mag 150 is a good reminder that all the bitterness and awfulness between the members of the archives is superficial. None of them trust each other and they treat each other like shit, but then they're back to gentle disagreements a few weeks later. Which is so real. Lashing out and just kinda ignoring all that hurt since they're stuck together.
Also like, I can't help but imagine Jon reading the statements as being fed handfuls of kale. When do you snap and jump a random person on a boat to steal their sandwich?
yeah no i’m completely normal about this ofc i am
Suburbia horror my beloved
(drop your favourite suburbia horror in the notes 💪)
we all know the vase is homophobic but the real question is: is the cul-de-sac homophobic or an ally? because on one hand it tormented that guy who was just trying to return something to his ex but they also worked out their relationship after the ordeal so…
TMA What We Know -[150]- Cul-de-Sac
pre-statement:
[none]
--STATEMENT--
-guy gets lost in the suburbs, something extremely normal and not supernatural
-locals roads are just called 'road' and 'street' and 'avenue' and 'way' and 'lane'. if I were there I would find that hilarious. love when things are named what they are., street named street, my beloved
-all the house numbers are 0
-his car stops working
-guy breaks in to a local house, which is unlocked
-guy turns on the TV and there's a cooking show that's in No Language and no actual cooking is happening
-there's a dead woman in this house! she killed herself because the suburbs are too spooky
-guy's ex husband calls, this somehow gets him out of the spooky suburbs
-the dead woman disappeared a year ago and her family/friends didn't notice
post-statement:
-Jon's like 'the lonely is spooky and evil. I don't like it'
-Melanie's here!!! -Melanie's not gonna do Magnus Institute work anymore
-Jon's like 'why not :(' and Melanie's like 'Jon. this place is evil.'
-we're 99% sure that Melanie's therapist is a normal human being and not a spooky creature
-Melanie and Daisy get drinks together <333
-Daisy only ever got drunk once. in 2006.
"the cog that is not turning anymore" as melanie describes it seems so much like that pacifist that (probably?) disrupted the slaughter's ritual by just. choosing not to help something he despises, even if he doesn't have any chance of walking away from it
idk, it seems poetic somehow. and also, it's a good point of view at the people caught up in structures they want to be no part of but are entirely dependent on for living (i'm not going to say "state" but)
