Writing Update
First off - I have been off most of my social media lately because, well... *makes general hand gestures at the entirety of 2020 so far*. Yeah. Gotta protect that mental health, fam.
Secondly - I came on to give an update on some writing (I’ll get to that in a minute) only to see that my writing account has been flagged for violating community guidelines for a GIF set I did ages ago. Oh, and spoiler alert, there’s nothing in that entire post that violates shit. Really, @staff, what the fuck? I’m hoping it’ll be resolved and that I won’t continue to be flagged. So please do me a favor and if you see this post, please just comment on it to let me know.
Thirdly - Writing update! I’m slowly finding time again to get some writing done. 2020 has been unkind to everyone and a lot of us can’t create when we’re stressed. I’m definitely someone who falls into that category. I also started working full time again a little over a month ago now (I work in human resources for a casino) and my work life has been absolutely nuts and draining of my already depleted creative wells. BUT - I’m getting back into the groove of things as I adjusts to what feels like a new normal. My hope is that I’ll have a dragon age inquisition Love Lost in Translation update for you before the end of the month and then after that I’ll try to crank out part two of my Korrasami Close to You series. I still very much want to write Cracks in the Foundation, but my brain needs some happier stories to work on right now. Don’t worry - I’ll get back to it... but I can’t promise it’ll be any time soon because of the general state of things around the world and in America.
That’s all I’ve got for now. I miss y’all. Hopefully the shit with my account being flagged will be resolved and I’ll be a little more present here soon.
And if anyone needs a reminder: when was the last time you took a good, deep breath? Has it been a bit? Can I be internet mom and say it’s okay to take one right now?
Stay safe.
How would the DAI gang react to a mage Inquisitor post-trespasser useing their Knight-enchanter skills as a way to replicate their lost arm? Like imagine the knight-enchanter sword is attached to the arm instead of being held
Cassandra: She is honestly quite surprised initially, but earns a new form of respect for the Inquisitor. They took a bad situation and turned it around, using quick-thinking and resources available to them to instead lean things in their favor. She does worry thought, mainly about just how often and how long the inquisitor uses this replicate, magic can cause headaches and migraines- exhaust as well, she knows that much.
Dorian: Mixed opinions indeed, He is thoroughly impressed actually and spends hours speaking with the Inquisitor about the inner workings of the arm- but there is that initial ‘oh, why didn’t I think of that?’ in the start. Playfully yes, but it’s still there. The playful jealousy and banter thrown at the Inquisitor seemingly eases their nerves however so he doesn’t mind too much. Dorian is extremely curious however.
Sera: There is the fear at first, she doesn’t trust magic all that much and what if the damn hand becomes sentient and strangles the Inquisitor in their sleep, ya know? But after some rather lengthy discussions with the Inquisitor she eases into the idea and actually finds it to be really cool, joking about it in some..less than PG manners.
Iron Bull: He is taken aback, most people who loose limbs tend to consider it a lost dream to somehow- if ever- regain that lost limb, seeing as prosthetic were highly limited. But the Inquisitor? They just shook their head and made a fucking magical one, causing Bull to pat their back with a boisterous laugh as he commented on how ‘of course the Inquisitor would make a magical arm’.
Blackwall: If he has an opinion on the matter he doesn’t voice it, admiring it from afar rather than actually vocally saying what he is thinking- simply allowing a lingering glance at it when it does appear in his direct line of vision; if asked however Blackwall does nothing more but give a short but impressed compliment, it’s not his arm in the end.
Varric: He is convinced the Inquisitor is just trying to make his books have more flair at this point, giving a laugh of disbelief as he sees it for the first time but simply shaking his head and patting them on the back. Honestly- Varric has seen some weird shit and this hardly takes the cake, but fuck is that clever.
Vivienne: She is on the Inquisitor so fast about the theory and execution about this thing, if she didn’t somehow assist in figuring out the spell she will be the first one to openly state she wants an detailed essay about how it works, if it allows for the sensation of touch or is simply an illusion when it isn’t used to harm. She applauds the Inquisitor for creativity and new-thinking alike.
Cole: He is curious, the idea of replacing what is lost with magic is odd to him but he likes that is makes the Inquisitor more relaxed and at peace with the fact, some people experience a long period of sadness and he is happy the Inquisitor shortened that to some degree with their new magical arm. It’s actually really amazing and pretty in his opinion.
A new chapter for Cullen and Niamh in Haven. I beta and edit this story and love it to bits.
Excerpt:
“Are you all right?” Josephine asked delicately. Niamh looked at her, the calm grey eyes and the serene, unruffled demeanour everything she wished she was in that moment.
“I’m getting there,” Niamh said, taking another sip of tea. “What did Aunt Helene want?”
“Would you believe me if I said she wanted to help out?” Josephine answered, glancing down at her clipboard.
“Not really. It’s not her style. She always has strings attached,” Niamh said with a sigh.
“As does your grandmother,” Vivienne pointed out. “I’ve known your grandmother for the better part of three decades, and she never does anything without expecting something in return. Whether that is the utter control over her family, or the expectation that she will be able to call in a favour at some unspecified date— she doesn’t do anything without that. She’s a shrewd woman, but you have every right to be angry with her for calling in Helene duCasperge without consulting you, or Lady Montilyet.”
Niamh looked at Vivienne, and then at Josephine, who nodded.
She had never considered that her grandmother had been playing the Game for so long— or rather, that she had outplayed her time and again. Her head warred with her heart, Vivienne’s words sinking in slowly. A part of her wished to deny the allegations that Vivienne had brought against Granny, but the rational, logical part of her knew that there was truth in what she said. Granny was always the mistress of half-truths, and Niamh hated never knowing the realities from the lies.
