pushing the limits (5.3K)
The point though is that Buck doesn’t push his magic. He doesn’t know his limits. And that proves to be a problem.

do you believe in magic? (5.6K)
Buck’s magic has been infatuated with Eddie since the moment Buck laid eyes on the man. It didn’t matter that Buck himself had less than pleasant feelings towards Eddie, his magic decided that Eddie was the love of its life and it was going to do anything it could to be near him. This went against Buck’s own feelings because of the whole not liking Eddie for exactly two days and also because Buck has always been told to keep his magic a secret.

#16: I never meant to hurt you
Guess who's finally starting to feel better and even went to the gym this weekend 🥳 now to work on my mental state... Also, Nicole, enjoy. And have fun with the doggos if you're still there.
"I really am sorry." Buck says as he sits in the chair that is definitely too small for his large frame. He twists his hands together nervously, knee bouncing up and down quickly. "I never meant to hurt you, Eddie."
"Buck," Eddie sighs from where he's sitting in the examination chair, "For the twentieth time, it's okay. You didn't hurt me."
Buck gives him a blank look before pointedly dragging his eyes over to the various medical equipment located around the hospital room the two are inside of right now. He looks back at Eddie and lifts an eyebrow.
"Okay, so you did hurt me." Eddie corrects breezily, "But I know you didn't mean it."
"No, I didn't!" Buck can feel tears prickling at his eyes. "I'm so sorry, Eddie."
"Baby, please stop apologizing. I know that making the soup explode was an accident."
"I don't even know why it happened!" Buck props his elbows onto his knees and drops his head into his hands, "I don't know why my magic went haywire! It's never done that!"
Eddie snorts.
"Okay, well that was an exception. I've never had an orgasm that good before."
"Thank you," Eddie comments and Buck groans, tugging at his hair, "And also thank you for thinking my kiss was so explosive? I thought it was pretty simple. Mediocre. Maybe a six out of ten."
"All of your kisses are hundreds out of ten."
"You're adorable."
Buck lifts his head, pleading at Eddie with his eyes, "Stop being nice to me! I put you in the hospital!"
Eddie doesn't get a chance to reply because the curtain slides open and the doctor steps in, smiling at the two.
"Hi, Edmundo?"
"Eddie, please."
"Alright. I'm Dr. Carolina." The doctor pulls the curtain shut behind her, "You're in here for a burn?"
Eddie holds his arm up, where a damp cloth is still resting, "Yup."
"What happened there?" Dr. Carolina moves closer as she pulls on a pair of gloves and then she's gently pulling the cloth back.
"We were making dinner." Eddie explains when Buck closes his mouth tightly, tucking his hands between this thighs. "Both of us reached for the pot at the same time. My boyfriend was quicker at jumping out of the way. I was not."
The doctor winces in sympathy, "Been there. My partner says that while I'm a pro in the ER, it's better if I just sit in the kitchen and look pretty while they cook."
Eddie laughs while Buck watches the doctor inspect the burn. He knows it's not too bad. Eddie had declared so, and he has the higher medical knowledge between the two, but it was bad enough to bring them here.
Inside of his chest, Buck can feel his magic start to simmer back to life. It had disappeared the moment the soup had exploded, landing on Eddie's bare arm, causing him to yell out in pain.
"It doesn't look too bad. I'll put a burn cover on it though, and then just keep it clean and dry." Dr. Carolina says, "Any sign of infection, come back in."
"Will do." Eddie nods, glancing over at Buck. Buck looks away quickly. His magic curls guiltily inside. He tries to soothe it but his own guilt is too heavy.
Not long later, Buck and Eddie are leaving the hospital, Eddie's arm bandaged up and additional supplies in hand. Buck hasn't said a word.
"Baby," Eddie stops them when they reach the Jeep, pushing Buck back against the vehicle gently. "Stop. I'm okay."
"I'm sorry." Buck whispers. His magic slithers out, like a timid animal, curling around Eddie's uninjured hand.
"I know. I know both of you are." Eddie tells him, "I'm okay, though? It was a freak accident. I don't want you or your magic worrying. And I don't want you to stop kissing me just because you made the soup explode."
Buck hates that Eddie knew exactly what he was thinking. Although Buck suspects he wouldn't have lasted more than a day without kissing his boyfriend.
"I just want to get in the Jeep, pick up some greasy burgers, and then go home and cuddle with my boyfriend and his temperamental magic. Can we do that?"
Buck offers a small smile, his magic crawls up Eddie's arm, neck, and cheek, dancing with his hair, as Buck tangles their fingers together, leaning in to peck Eddie quickly on the mouth. "Yeah, we can do that."

Tease Tidbit Tuesday 💫
I randomly thought about my magical!Buck WIP that I haven't touched since apparently December 1st. Reread what I already had, remembered how much I loved the story, and promptly wrote an additional ~900 words (this thing is now at 3K and there's more to go...)
But I think this will be the next story to finish, yay! Loving getting back into my WIPs. Wish I could get into editing and posting my ready stories. Anyways....HERE!
“Last week…” Eddie starts, biting on his bottom lip as he trails off. Buck’s eyes catch on it, itching to tug it out from between those pointed teeth. His magic gets pretty close to it before Buck yanks it back. “What part of last week?” Buck asks, trying to act calm as his heart races. There aren’t many moments from last week to bring up. But there definitely is a significant one. “When we got drunk and you sweet talked me into breaking out the tequila.” “I simply said to bring it out. There was no sweet talking.” Eddie turns his head to level Buck with a look. “It was good tequila! It’s meant to be enjoyed!” Eddie rolls his eyes and sips his own iced coffee. “The tequila isn’t the point.” “Oh?” Buck’s magic twirls around his one hand frantically. A glance down shows a shimmer in the sunlight. He curls his fingers into his palm. “There was…” Eddie frowns, brows drawing together and creating that crease. His magic itches to smooth it out as it usually does. Buck finds himself wanting to as well. “A moment.” “A moment?” Buck echoes. Okay so there was a sort of moment where Buck thinks they almost kissed but there was also the sort of moment where Eddie talked about Buck’s eyes flashing silver.
WIP Wednesday 🌙
Tagged by @bekkachaos - if anyone else wants to tag me for Buddie stuff, feel free! I love discovering new works :)
I should be editing my secret fic or editing my pwp fic or working on Cupid!Buck...instead I started on my magical!Buck fic. Whoops.
“Stop that!” Buck hisses as he notices a shimmer tease at the lock of hair falling over Eddie’s forehead. His best friend looks up from the cookies he’s decorating, big brown eyes blinking as he comes back to himself and out of the daze, “Stop what?” “Nothing.” Buck replies quickly, “Keep going. Cookies are looking great, Eds.” Eddie narrows his eyes at Buck, as if he’s assessing him, before clearly deciding it’s one of those moments not worth following up on, because he ducks back down to keep placing his icing onto his cookies. Buck glares at the glimmer, watching as it sort of sags like a human drooping its shoulders, and then it zips back to him, teasing along his fingers and disappearing back into his palm. Honestly. His magic needs to get a hold of itself.
Tease Tidbit Tuesday 💫
Magic 2.0 (I will name it at some point) has taken over my focus and I’m enjoying it so here’s some of that
“Come on.” Buck grits out, foot sinking a bit on the first step down. His magic is wavering, fighting back the intense flames that have overtaken this part of the building, while also protecting Kai. Buck isn’t protected in any way anymore. The flames are hot enough even to eat away at his turnouts. He can feel the heat against his skin. He doesn’t stop. They make it to the ground floor and Buck crashes out into the hallway, his magic rushing forward with a final burst, clearing the way to the front door. Even though Buck wants to stop, curl up on the floor, sleep for a week, he doesn’t. He runs.
Several Sentences Sunday ⭐️

I decided to dive back into Magic 2.0 - which is what I'm calling my second magical!Buck story for now haha - and ended up figuring out a really good direction that I'm so excited for. So I'm sharing some of that with y'all.
Buck is tugged quite suddenly and sharply backwards, grunting at the force. His magic keeps trying to pull him back as Buck fights against it, trying to move towards Eddie’s body disappearing into the smoke. “Stop it!” He snaps at his magic, and normally that’s enough to get it to listen, but this time, it doesn’t. It keeps trying to pull him in the opposite direction of safety. “What are you doing?! Trying to kill me?!” Buck probably looks insane, shouting at himself in the middle of an inferno, but there’s no one around to watch him. Something zings up his spine, and it feels a bit familiar. Sort of like…like when he was in the tsunami. And his magic pushed him to go and save someone.
I'm not going to tag anyone because it's already so late on Sunday, but wanted to share anyways!
Buck's magic is just so infatuated with Eddie, and I think Eddie is quickly becoming just as infatuated.
The magic swoops down to Eddie’s hands, teasing at the back of his hands and fingers. Eddie’s mouth parts, eyes wide, and he lifts his hand, watching as the swirls of magic dances between his fingers. “Is this real?” “Yup.” Buck takes a sip of his water, watching as his magic follows the line of Eddie’s arm upwards to his neck, cheek, eyes, and then hair. It ruffles the locks, soft and free of product, clearly pleased at the style. “It’s done this before.” Eddie half states, half asks, looking over at Buck as the magic continues its exploration of Eddie. “Told you,” He smiles at his surprisingly calm best friend, “it’s a bit infatuated with you.” The magic swirls around Eddie suddenly, bursts of sparks popping around him and then showering down onto him. Eddie lets out a small laugh, tilting his head back to watch the small show. Buck’s smile grows as he watches; he’s never seen anyone experience such pure joy at his magic before. Not like this.
