PF1e Conversion: Greater Cockatrice
Hello there!
This is a conversion I've been meaning to do for a long time now. This creature appears in the Monster Manual Expanded by Mannix "Dragonix" Manansala, to whom goes all credit for this concept. I've used the stats for the cockatrice, the ostrich and the bisso galeto from Legendary Games' "Mediterranean Monsters" to work out the stats for this creature. You be the judges whether or not I did a good job of it.
As always, enjoy!
COCKATRICE, GREATER

This strange and repulsive creature looks like an overgrown rooster with leathery, bat-like wings and a snake-like tail ending in a wicked stinger.

Special Abilities
Petrification (Su) A greater cockatrice’s bite causes flesh to calcify and harden — multiple bites can cause a living creature to fossilize into stone. Each time a creature is damaged by a greater cockatrice’s bite attack, it must succeed on a DC 18 Fortitude save or take 1d6 points of Dexterity damage as its flesh and bones stiffen and harden. (This slow petrification does not alter a bitten creature’s natural armor.) A creature that is reduced to 0 Dexterity by a greater cockatrice’s bites immediately turns completely to stone, as if petrified by a flesh to stone spell. Every day, a creature petrified by a cockatrice in this manner can attempt a new DC 18 Fortitude save to recover from the petrification, at which point the victim returns to flesh with 1 Dexterity (and thereafter can be restored to full Dexterity by natural healing or magic as normal) — but after a petrified creature fails three of these Fortitude saves in a row, the petrified state becomes permanent. A creature restored to flesh via magic has its Dexterity damage caused by cockatrice bites removed, but not any existing Dexterity damage from other sources. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Poison (Ex) Sting – injury; save Fortitude DC 18; frequency 1/round for 4 rounds; effect 1d3 Constitution damage; cure 1 save. The save DC is Constitution-based.
The abominable greater cockatrice is a far more horrifying version of the common cockatrice. Thankfully, the greater cockatrice is rarely encountered, as it avoids populous areas, and is said to haunt only deserted ruins and desolate locales. They are often kept as guardians or pets by more powerful creatures such as lamias and greater medusae.
Apothecarists, artificers, enchanters, and wizards greatly value the body parts of a greater cockatrice as magical ingredients for their concoctions, spells, and magical creations and would hire adventurers to seek and hunt a greater cockatrice. Only a few manage to return to claim their rewards and seldom do they account for the cost it took.
