𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 : a sleepy morning with cater diamond…
𝐚/𝐧 : hello! this scenario was from my old account, so if it seems familiar, your eyes aren’t deceiving you! just reposting a few of my old writings while i work on new ones! please enjoy :)
Cater Diamond is a complicated individual. Each smile he wears and each photo he posts is carefully scripted to go along with the play he has acted in since he was a child. A detailed mask is worn to convey the personality that his sisters crafted for him; a masquerade that will never end. This poor performer will dance a sorrowful ballet until he leaves this Earth.
Few times has Cater Diamond dropped his mask, tied it too loose. Meeting you became the pivotal moment in his story; an unfortunate soul that managed to land themselves in an unknown world had landed on his doorstep. You hardly let that fact bring you down, and he greatly admired it. You were resilient and brave, consistently putting your life on the line for the sake of your fellow students. Not to mention the pureness of your heart and the kindness you offered to everyone; how could he not fall for you?
Though, his favorite part about you was your understanding nature. When each overblot victim had recovered, you were one of the first people at their sides when they awoke. He recalls the occurrence with his housewarden, Riddle Rosehearts, who had broken down into tears with apologies when he realized how harsh his ruling had became. Though worn out yourself, you returned the next morning to his bedside in the nurse's office. Around the same time, Cater had come for a visit as well. Some words were spoken between you and Riddle, something along the lines of “I’m your friend, and friends help each other. If you need me, I’ll be there.”
Cater had to admit; he wished someone would tell him the very same. His time was constantly spent pondering what the people around him thought of him. Was he too annoying? Did he care a little too much? It had begun to reach the point of precious sleep being lost over such thoughts. He was reaching his breaking point.
That was when your kindness had finally reached him first hand. It was during another unbirthday party, and it was going swimmingly. No mishaps had occurred, and the tea was steeped to perfection. Everything had to be perfect since the prefect was the special guest at this very party. Cater wasted no time taking a seat next to you, chatting you up like there was no tomorrow. But soon came the most difficult part of any unbirthday; the sugary confections.
The array of pastries was wide, name one and it was most definitely in the spread. Magicam worthy for sure, and the orange haired boy made it a point to take lots of pics. But, the snapshots of the unbirthday were not Cater Diamond's problem. No, it was having to force down the sugar coated desserts. He always ate at least one to keep up the mask, but each bite was like pulling teeth; painstaking. He could feel a little part of him die as he swallowed pieces of fruit tarts, wishing it would end. A part of him wished someone would notice his distaste; no one ever did.
But, you did. The flash of a grimace on his face upon seeing the citrus tart placed upon the fragile china in front of him was enough to tell you he was not okay. You yourself had picked a savory pastry on the spicier side, and gazed upon it with much thought. Then, it happened. With a quick hand, you replaced Cater’s plate with your own. Before he could utter a word about what had just happened, you held a finger up to your lips. And even more precious than that, you smiled at him.
It wasn’t just a simple smile, it was one that said something he had longed to hear.
“It’s okay.”
He never forgot it. Your welcoming aura didn’t simply stop there, it spread to other facets of his life. School, online, and even when he was alone. He simply couldn’t get you off his mind; you were like a parasite. Though, you weren’t invasive like a parasite. You were warm. You were precious. You were you.
It had gotten to the point where Cater Diamond could not tell who Cater Diamond was any longer.
Were his feelings for you true or simply another hardwired response to someone showing even a lick of admiration for who he truly was? It was not until after you awoke him from his dream that he realized just how serious he was about you. You put in the effort of awakening him from his dream, not simply because of obligation, but because you wanted to. You wanted to save him. You didn’t care about his dream of being the Trick King, or the fact he nearly burst into tears at the realization you had seen his dream with you. Of all people, you chose him.
And now, he got to wake up next to you every morning.
A bright light permeated through the red curtains of Cater’s room, nearly blinding him as he awoke from his slumber. He blinked a few times, adjusting his eyes to the brightness of the room. They flicked around a few times before they landed on the figure beside him; you.
How peaceful you looked while sleeping. Though he kind of felt like a creep for staring. He simply couldn’t help it; you were such a cutie in his eyes. Your hair splayed across the silly diamond shaped pillows he specially picked out for his bed, painting the pale orange with a different color he had come to adore. Your eyes were loosely shut, enjoying the uninterrupted sleep. Taking care of the ADeuce duo as well as Grim did take its toll, he’s sure.
Cater smiled softly as he lightly nuzzled back into your neck, and let out a breathy sigh. He almost didn’t want to wake up. He wanted to stay with you like this forever, wrapped in each other's arms with no one to interrupt the intimacy you craved from one another. But, duty calls.
Carefully unraveling himself from your arms, Cater replaced the covers over your still sleeping body. He then tip-toed over to his desk where the box of new makeup and skincare products rested, making sure as he took each item out to stay as quiet as he possibly could. His tripod was already set up at the bench at the foot of his bed, leaving the final step to be filming his video.
With a huff, he prepared to put on his persona. He put on his cute headband, one with the silly diamond mascot he had come to actually enjoy. However, as he reached for the record button, he heard a raspy voice from behind him.
“Cay, would you please come back to bed?”
His head snapped back to face the voice, you. Hair tousled, half-lidded eyes still adjusting to the light, and a sleepy pout present on your face. You were completely and utterly adorable, the most precious thing he had ever had ever laid eyes on. Oh how he wanted to crawl back into bed.
A saddened sigh left his lips, his eyes staring into the camera lense. In it, he saw his reflection. Underneath his eyes were dark circles, though, not as dark as he had presumed they might be. He lifted a finger and ran it across his under eye in hopes it would help wake him up.
“[Name], I have to film this get ready with me.” He muttered
A frown spread across your face, arms pushing your body up to reach closer to the foot of the bed. You carefully reached your arms over Cater’s shoulders, pulling him in for a warm embrace. “Can’t it wait? I’d like to enjoy a few more minutes in bed with my boyfriend.”
“[Name].”
Your hand lifted to touch his cheek, turning his face so he could look at your eyes. Just as Cater had noticed his own signs of sleep deprivation, you were ever quicker than him. You softly ran your fingers over them, cold as they were, they did help the orange haired boy awaken. “You can’t hide those eye circles from me either, love.”
Cater pouted, feeling stubborn. A sigh left your lips. “Let’s make a deal. We go back to bed for thirty more minutes, then when we wake up we can film your video, together.”
A heated debate was waged through intense eye contact between the two of you, but there could only be one winner.
And it was not Cater.
“Deal, but you better be ready to not be able to move for those thirty minutes!” He exclaimed
“What-?”
Within seconds, Cater jumped up from his spot on the floor and into your arms. He nuzzled deep into your neck with his arms around you in a vice grip so you wouldn’t be able to get up; not that you minded. Your own arms couldn’t help but return the favor, bundling the two of you together. “Where’d the sudden burst of energy appear from?” You whispered.
You ran your hands languidly through his light orange hair, basking in the soft texture. A relaxed smile spread across his face as he leaned into your warm touch, nearly falling asleep once again. Hands then caressed his cheeks before thumbs ran over his dark circles; his skin soft to the touch. Despite how much you worried about his lack of sleep, you could not deny that you found him absolutely adorable when he was tired.
“You’re still so handsome even when you’re sleep deprived.” You whispered.
A light blush spread across his cheeks as he stared at you, then he buried himself lightly into your chest. You then gave him a little pinch on the cheek. “Getting shy now, Cay?” You teased.
“Not at all, cutie.” He retorted, his voice becoming a murmur against your body.
A chuckle left your lips as you settled further in the bed. “Sweet dreams, Cay.”
“The same goes for you, hon.”
