Mirror scrying, like scrying with a crystal ball, is a form of crystallomancy, a term which refers to scrying using the reflective surface of a crystal or gemstone. Mirror scrying was the earliest form of scrying to be practiced, with the "mirror" being the surface of a lake or other calm body of water. Such water scrying was a common feature of Shamanic cultures and often took place at night by the light of the moon.
Scrying is an ancient practice, a form of divination which requires the gazer or seer to enter a trance like state by gazing into a crystal, mirror or bowl of water in order to see past, present and future. Scrying using a black mirror or black surface helps to prevent distractions and helps us to focus. Black is a color (or 'non-color') which is particularly useful in meditation techniques as the darkness of the mirror enables the user to focus deeply on meditating without distraction. Obsidian is popular due to its excellent grounding and protective properties
Obsidian as a stone can help you connect with your 'inner warrior'. Obsidian is actually natural glass that is formed when hot lava is submerged in water and cooled too quickly for crystals to form. It is believed to draw imbalances to the surface and helps to release them. Problems or issues that are hard to face can be brought to light with obsidian. This is a strong grounding stone and is known as "the protector". It is said to mirror one's soul. Absorbs dark or negative energy and emotions such as anger, criticism, and fear, and converts it to white light energy. Obsidian is used for transformation.
