“Then you will be sitting there for quite some time, I’m afraid.” This day, it seemed, stubbornness would meet stubbornness head on. The steadfast spellsword who dutifully pursues his goals and the ancient mage who blocks out his emotions for the sake of others.
It was no wonder they found themselves stuck at a crossroads.
Lei had recently come down with an illness. One he couldn’t treat with magic, as it would mix poorly with the shield he had over his mind. Which meant he had to resort to more typical treatment. Rest, soup, water, whatever medicine he could mix together….
Or at least he should be relying on that. Rather than sitting up at his desk in the dead of night, pouring over textbook after textbook to continue his research. He hadn’t taken the slightest steps in the direction of improving his health, and it seemed that Zelgadis was keen on forcing him to do so.
Turning a page, the sage spoke again. “While I appreciate the effort, it is unnecessary. I lived for centuries in a block of ice, one simple cold won’t do me in. I have more important things to do than...” Taking care of himself. “If I can’t find a solution to our more pressing issue, then perhaps it’s for the better for me to let my body become weak.”
