Despite his age, he has the most youthful-looking appearance that has all the mothers fawning over him every time he drops his sons off at school. OKAY so I keep seeing this post by @captainadwen and now I am having some THOUGHTS about maglor. This is my very long very unnecessary headcanon:
Maglor is never described as repentant because he legitimately thinks his actions justified. He knows that they’re wrong, but he sees everything that goes down and simply an attempt to put things right; to put them back to the way they were before.
It was literally explicitly stated that Maglor inherited Nerdanel’s gentle temperament, and in Valinor he was a musician, not CLOSE to being a warrior. The Darkening began and Valinor became less joyful, more grim, and obviously Formenos was a strong reflection of Feanor’s behavior and personality. Basically, not the environment for a musician with the complete opposite temperament.
Anyways, Maglor probably saw the Silmarils as a reflection of that. Melkor became close to Feanor because of the gems. Feanor was driven to madness because of the gems. Finwe was killed for the gems. The gems are the root of his/his family’s issues. After the Silmarils are taken, his thought, while obviously much more complex, must be something along the lines of “silmarils = bad things happening. get silmarils back = everything is over.”
Personally I think that’s why, unlike Maedhros, he’s never described as regretful or repentant until the end of the Silmarillion, even though that would be “expected” of the “gentle” one. (Parentheses bc I can’t stand the characterization of Maglor as leaps and bounds better than his brothers because he’s “soft and gentle.” he’s literally a mass murder.) Because to him, getting the Silmarils back means going back to the way things were. I think subconsciously he still thought things would go back to normal, even though that’s obviously impossible.
He kept that mindset up until Elrond and Elros, who kind of snapped him out of everything; nothing could “go back to normal.” He ruined some kids’ lives trying to reclaim his own life, even though it was an impossible goal. (Obviously there’s the business of Elwing literally choosing death over her children but that is NO WAY excuses M&M literally massacring her town.) I feel like for him, the last 500 years had been some sort of fever dream, and he only just realized the gravity of the situation. He locked away everything bad he did, because it was justified in his mind.

Maedhros wouldn’t care that much. Doesn’t matter if you are in public just doing your thing or sitting on the sofa with him reading. The only times Maedhros will ask you to take them out is if he is addressing you or if he sees someone wanting to talk to you in a social setting.
- Fingolfin
Fingolfin does not mind you using them that much, but he might voice that he would prefer if you used them less. One time coming from a bath, you found him sitting on the couch, listening to a podcast and nodding his head in agreement with the speaker. He was very embarrassed to be caught, but will be ok with using it as much as you want from then on, as long as he can still listen to podcasts in the evenings.
- Finrod
When you look at him in the headphones Finrod will make silly faces to make you smile. They will not bother him at all. At the end of the day if he sees that you have fallen asleep with your ear buds still in Finrod will gently take them out of your ears and set them next to your head. - Feanor
This one can be needy sometimes, wanting your attention to be on him. So Feanor will take your headphones away from you with a grumpy face, asking if you are doing it so not to spend time with him. - Maglor
If you are listening to music he will be very interested, he will lean close to your face, he can hear it without leaning in, but it gives him an excuse to be closer to you. If he likes what you are listening to Maglor will give you a peck on cheek and continue whatever he was doing.
- Caranthir
He realises the importance of needing to shut the world once in a while. Caranthir might even ask you if you will be up to sharing one of the ear buds with him. Keep out the outside world together so to say. At the end of the day he will lay next to you, head on your shoulder, lazily watching whatever you are doing on your phone.
