Have you ever explored the dynamics of how Magnus was the one given the Matrix vs. Rodimus being the one it actually chose? I feel that could be an interesting aspect of their relationship, the ready leader who wasnt, and the actual leader who didn't expect it. I doubt Magnus would be jealous of him per se, but I feel like he'd be trying to teach Rodimus leadership skills and Rodimus having feelings of inadequacy at times and Magnus encouraging him.

Oohh this dynamic i have discussed with my friend before! Its a very interesting one and like I wanna do something for it but i have alot of thibgs goin on and about BUT! I have thought about it and oughth its so good

Like Magnus ready to take the responsibilities, and then Rodimus is the one that gets chosen. I feel Magnus would have complete faith in the Matrix and Rodimus. He knew he wasnt worthy by the Matrix (since it was given and not chosen to him) so he accepts it completely, and tries his best to help Rodimus with the whole leadership thing.

Personally I like to think (this is purely headcanons and stuff, buts also based on like exaggerating how he is in g1 haha) that Rodimus really felt unworthy of the Matrix. In fact he didnt want it! Why would something so great be given to a soldier like he? Hes often angry at the Matrix, for choosing HIM of all people. He is too inexperienced and almost gives up multiple times, but Ultra Magnus is there to assure him its no mistake. Magnus has more faith in Rodimus and the Matrix than Rodimus has of himself. He believes Magnus should have been the one to be chosen.

Theres that, not conflict, but they both have such different feelings towards the Matrix that (this is a headcanon) Rodimus has tried to shove the Matrix back to Magnus, because of how overwhelming the responsibilities were. Again, Magnus assures that its all part of a greater understanding and he continues to encourage Rodimus.

I think their relationship was already kinda mutual before Optimus had passed, but they never acted upon it. It was kinda like a "I like you" and "I like you too" but not actually doing much about it because both parties were WUSSIES!!! And with the whole Matrix ordeal Rodimus felt so lost. Before it was easier, and to him, if Magnus held the Matrix he would feel safer than HIM being the one to wield it. Because he feels, again, that Magnus is more worthy than him.

Their relationship slowly builds closer as Magnus and Rodimus each share their struggles together. It doesnt stay as a "I like you teehee" anymore, its more like a "I will always be here for you, and I know you'll do the same for me. And if theres anything, I will assist to the best of my ability" mutual kinda thing.

I like to think theyre a bit awkward alot, because they dont know what to do or feel. But the longer it goes they slowly grow into it and their relationship is still not exactly official, but its something theyre both mutual about and have complete understanding for, and Rodimus slowly accepts that he really IS the one the Matrix chose. He still isnt fully confident in himself, but if Magnus is always there with him, he knows he can do this. There are many times when its too much and he just has to stop and take a breather. He knows can rely on Magnus to take his place in a jiffy, and Magnus trusts Rodimus to know what hes doing, even if it doesnt make sense sometimes. His faith is continuous.

So, summary, they unconditionally love eachother, but in their own awkward way. They would never admit that theyre "dating" because ougghh i feel like Magnus would cringe at the word, and Rodimus KNOWS Magnus would cringe at the word. So theyre just leaders together and when the war was over.....suddenly... "Hey!!! So we're conjunxes now :)"

(Through the whole ordeal Arcee was betting with Kup, Springer and Blurr when they would officially announce their relationship. Kup won the bet)
