“You’re going to have to explain this to me.” vibes with disaster quartet ngl 👁️👁️
YES 👁👁 immediately thought of them planning to escape in 4thverse, so >:3

"—At which point we're definitely gonna need transportation," Mags is rambling, pointing to a series of hastily scribbled plans on one of her whiteboards, "but I-I can't drive, and peri—um—peripheral vision might be difficult for Lilith and Langley, so, uh–"
"I can drive," Nils offers, raising a hand slightly.
Mags nods vaguely in his direction. "Okay, Nils drives. Thank you. Oh, but we'll also h-have to fly, probably, 'cause they're in Russia maybe... r-right?"
"I've got the flight part covered." Langley chimes in now with a reassuring smile. "We'd set out early morning, and we have the location, too. I think that covers everything?"
Mags nods again, writing down the new information on the board. The four had been there for... Lilith can't remember how long, and the overload of information has quickly been far too much for him. (No offense given to Mags, of course; her mind worked as fast as Nils' did. Which is to say: too fast for Lilith.)
So he finally speaks up. "Yeah, um... you're gonna have to explain this to me." Lilith sounds mildly embarrassed, especially as he adds, "...again."
"Ah! Sorry!" Mags apologizes quickly, looking guilty. "I-I got carried away; I can condense it... for you..."
Before Lilith or Langley can say anything, Nils speaks again, moving his chair closer to Lilith.
"Not a problem." The Danish man appears to think for a split second, then begins his explanation. "We're leaving the 141 and joining the Inner Circle."
"Oh, right. Okay." Lilith laughs softly. Why does he feel almost... flustered at having Nils so close to him?
And is that the slightest hint of a smile on Nils' usual blank face? "I'll drive us, and then we'll fly the rest of the way," he continues. "And I have information they can use, so our plan to switch sides should work easily."
If Lilith still had both eyes, he would've seen Langley and Mags sharing a knowing look on his left. But either way, the Canadian is entirely focused on Nils right now as his brain processes the simpler version of their plan.
The two men meet eyes, and it seems like Nils is studying Lilith's face. He seems... intrigued. Lilith would know that look anywhere; it's the one Nils gets when something interests him.
His voice soon breaks Lilith out of his thoughts. "Did that make sense?" Nils asks, and there's genuine concern in his gray eyes.
God, he's nice to look at, Lilith thinks before he answers. "It does, yeah. Thanks, Nils," he says with a smile.
One that Nils returns, slightly. But more than enough to have Lilith feeling flustered again.
Fun fact: today is animal crossing Coco's birthday, my big sibling's boyfriend's birthday, AND Mags' birthday!!!! So I'm cross-posting art from saintvulgaris over here lol
Figuring out what the connected birthdays all mean with Lilith's help XD
Is a platonic polycule a thing or would that just be like. close friends or found family 🤔 asking for Lilith, Mags, and Nils bc Lilith and Nils are gay (and very kinky and sexual) and Mags is an ace demiromantic lesbian (and sex-repulsed with a lot of anxiety regarding it).... but they're kinda inseparable......
[Edit] they are Ultra Besties, decided by my FP @callofdutyhater2 <3333
Omg we gotta rethink Blood Brothers too like… Yuri anxiously waiting for Vladimir to come into view, but not for the same reasons as Price and Soap. He needs to see his husband again and doesn’t want anything to happen to him 🥺
WAIT YES,,,,,,,,, Also just realized the quartet doesn't have a role so gonna brainstorm that as well~
Yuri seems incredibly on edge, but they just think it's because he's nervous the mission won't go well or something. (Lilith is the only one to ask btw. Yuri just gives a vague answer 🥺) Nils gave them all a plan that seems to work so far, Langley's with Price, and Lilith... idk he stayed behind with Nils. Price didn't want him flirting with Inner Circle agents XD
ANYWAY. Yuri hesitates as Soap asks where Kingfish will be, and has to stop himself from thanking the higher powers that Vladimir's late—and when Soap comments "you seem to know a lot about Makarov". But Yuri watches the cars intently, immediately stiffening as he meets eyes with Vladimir, who stares right at the tower where his husband is and seems to be forcing himself to stay still in the car.
Yuri doesn't hear much after that, entirely focused on the younger man. He watches as Vladimir mumbles something in a walkie-talkie, giving the order to blow Kamarov up, then threaten Price—and stare directly at the tower again, murmuring three words in a surprisingly vulnerable voice: "three seconds, Yura."
"What the hell is he—" but Soap doesn't get to finish the question. As soon as the bomb goes off, Yuri shoves him out of the tower, secretly making sure to land on him as well. Unfortunately, Soap is still alive. Cursing his luck (and worrying like HELL about where Vladimir is and if he's safe in the car and—), Yuri begrudgingly carries him off, soon dropping Soap on the table.
Mags reports him in to be in a coma, Price loses his shit, and Yuri's barely even processing the scene before him. He failed to kill the weasel, and he's still worrying so much about Vladimir... his poor Volodenka...
Yuri has to tell the cover story (will repost my fic of that another time), Price buys it, Langley is pissed. Lilith doesn't care, Mags wants to go home, Nils also doesn't care and wishes Yuri finished the job.
Later, Yuri finally gets a moment to call Vladimir. He apologizes for not killing Soap, and Vladimir only replies "we can get him later, Yurochka... I-I was so worried you might h-have... p-please t-tell me you're okay..."
"I wasn't hurt, myshka," Yuri reassures him, "I'm here, don't worry... listen to my voice, alright?"
Vladimir lets himself cry as Yuri keeps talking to him so gently,,, begging the older man to come home as soon as he can, and to stay safe,,, Yuri tells Vladimir to do the same 🥺 I think this was their longest phone call on the mission tbh. Deserved either way but,,, snfnsnfnsnf,,,,,,
I think that even though Mags is a very anxious person who's prone to wild theories, she's able to function extraordinarily well during the more stressful parts of her job as a medic and a surgeon. Mags focuses on the patient and treating their wounds, only allowing herself to be afraid after the injuries and whatnot are dealt with since one mistake could be fatal.
Lilith is similar in that he keeps his flirtatious, silly side to a minimum while on a job. He's an extremely skilled mercenary and takes his work very seriously, only cracking jokes with trusted teammates (like the rest of the disaster quartet). Lilith has hit on male targets before, but only when they're captured and/or Lilith knows he can get away with it.
