I didn't really understand when they said "no one has the power to hurt you unless you let them". Somehow I still don't. It is, for me, a hard concept to grasp. But my mind, it has finally gotten around it (hopefully the feelings will follow). So what that really means is to stop accepting others judgements as truth. That it only hurts because you believe what they're saying. You agree with what they're doing. You are the one hurting yourself. They say one word and you write a negative essay in your head. You can be so sweet and compassionate to others... so why can't you look at yourself the same way? Stop, just stop. When the first negative thought run through your head ask yourself "is it true" and if your mind keeps insisting, go on and list all the reasons why it's not. And I'm going to give you one for the start: no matter what happened, where you've been, what you've been through, you made it! It's another day and you're alive. You are stronger than all those times you thought you weren't. You're awesome. Not perfect. No one is. And that's completely fine. Keep going.
