cleansing with guitar songs

i’ve seen cleansing with sound mentioned in posts here and there, but i haven’t seen any that elaborate. so, i thought i would share my take on it (with what i have available, which happens to be a guitar)! 

the type of song: something in major for inviting in positivity and something in minor for removing negativity. you can pretty much do whatever, but in my opinion there should be one chord for each task. you can also use songs that already exist if you don’t want to come up with your own

to cleanse an object: 

place close (or near) to the instrument 

play your “negative” song and visualize the bad energies from the object being absorbed into the instrument

when you’re done, quickly stop the sound 

play your “positive” song and visualize good energies traveling from the instrument to the object 

when you’re done, let the last chord/note fade out 

to cleanse a space: 

(note: this is just what i personally like to do whenever i cleanse with my guitar)

starting in the center of this space, play your song repeat a chord or two in minor, (optional: start softly and slowly build up) while walking in a spiraling out motion. visualize the negativity being gathered into the strings.

spiral out as far as you’d like, but make sure to go only as far as your song lasts

when you’re done, halt the sound immediately

invite positivity into the circle by playing a chord or two in major (optional: start softly and slowly build up) moving in a spiraling motion inward until you reach the center of your spiral

end in a somewhat louder strum, as if to spread the positivity you just just invited in around your space.

alternatively, if you don’t feel like standing up you can do the same thing sitting in the center of your space, just without the spiraling motions.

Testing the Validity of Tarot

I happened upon an interesting PDF this evening. This paper, titled Testing the Validity of Tarot Cards: Can We Distinguish Between a Real and a Controlled Reading by Itai Ivtzan & Christopher C. French of the University of London was ... presented? at the 2004 Parapsychological Association Convention (question mark there because I’m not 100% sure of the circumstances behind it).

This particular paper is only three pages long, so I’m sure it’s a summary of a more lengthy article - if someone knows of a longer version, please let me know.

From the introduction:

This study juxtaposes two alternative approaches to understanding the results obtained in Tarot reading: the paranormal and the non-paranormal. People consult advisors using different means of divination and claim that the insights they are supplied with are accurate. The assumption behind this experiment was that if this is true, the participant should give higher ratings to a real reading in terms of overall relevance compared with a control reading.

The Results and Discussion and Effect of Belief on Rating sections were particularly interesting to me. Check out the paper [HERE] ... archived version [here] in case the original disappears.

Aphrodite Love Charm

Assemble materials and cast a circle on the appropriate       and hour day. Light an red candle and burn Venus incense. Cut a circle out       of red or rose-pink cloth (orange, green or white could also be appropriate).       Fill it with a mixture of any of the following herbs and oils: acacia flowers,       myrtle, rose petals or buds, jasmine flowers, lavender, cloves, rosemary,       cinnamon, olive oil, basil, mint, patchouli, musk, honeysuckle. Add a red       felt heart and a copper coin. Write in tiny letters on a small piece of       paper:

"Aphrodite of the sea,       Send my true love to me"

Place it in the charm. Charge it with the four elements.       Imbue it with your desires and visualizations. Ground the energy and relax.       Bind the charm by tying it with a blue thread in seven knots. Open the circle.
