Short-Mayo S.21 'Maia' flying boat G-ADHK with Short S.20 'Mercury' sea plane-mail plane G-ADHJ above. Composite aircraft project. Built and flew in 1937. Only one built. 'Maia' destroyed by German bombing in 1941.
In 1938 a world record long-distance flight by a seaplane was achieved by the aircraft ‘Mercury’, the upper component of the Short Mayo. Scotland to South West Africa.
