Like the character of Margaret on M*A*S*H, the writers on Stargate SG1 had no fucking clue how to write Sam Carter. And, like Loretta Swit, it was up to Amanda Tapping a lot of the time to improve things. And once they did finally learn how to write for her, she turned into a wonderful character.

8.01 - New Order

Crazy that poor Amanda had to fight just as hard as Loretta did over 20 years later just to have a decent character.

And kudos to both women for doing it against writer's rooms with men who, by and large, did not care about making the only woman character interesting.

As much as I also love my other fandoms and ships, whenever I find SG-1 and Sam/Jack shippers, it just makes my heart swell and I get all excited, because I have found my people. 💜 They are my OTP and SG-1 is still my #1 favorite, even after 20+ years. Thank you all for giving me that feeling. I love that the fandom and ship are still going strong even after so long off the air.

I need men to stop constantly assuming the right way to interact with Carter is just hitting on her, like yes, she’s hot and smart and a complete badass, but she’s also a professional and deserves so much more respect than she is shown. My girl deserves better <3
