(rhato 37) wait i am so confused by this Roy & Ollie falling out flashback that I feel like I am straight up missing something. Roy was perfectly happy being Ollie's employee and working in the lab and agreeing that Ollie owned everything he made, and then he accidentally found out Ollie was Green Arrow and...suddenly is extremely upset for some reason? i think the dialogue here is meant to indicate roy felt like he was being used but? why?? what am i missing?? Based on the framing of this issue, am I meant to interpret this as Roy messing things up because he was drunk?
also, how on earth is this supposed to fit with the backstory from annual 1 where Roy was specifically recruited to make weapons and tools for Green Arrow and knew the whole time and was super excited about it, because those seem inherently contradictory even if you claim the annual stuff comes after the 37 stuff. at what point in this does roy himself become a superhero because i am starting to think he never actually did, despite characters claiming he was
Cass, we miss you so much!!! I know there's nothing new but tell us what do you expect from ep 7 and what are your theories, like what do you think it will be the role of the director and the person that Kevin is probably going to save, regarding his relationship with Madison, his lack of empathy and his career? Thanksss bb, bless us with your tags!!! Ilyyyy
B, TOMORROW WE’RE GONNA GO THROUGH THE MOTIONS!!
“Football is not the only thing that you have.” DID YOU HEAR THE GHOST OF YOUR FATHER’S VOICE SPEAKING TO YA, KEV?
Kevin will finally realise that if he puts his wants/desires above all else, he will lose the most important person in his life and that is MADISON (+ bebes)
Jack was the most “there” person ever and cue tears but he right. Jack really was, and over everything else, Jack always put his family first.
(To the point that his death caused so much trauma for them but let’s not get into that right now lol)
Kevin has lived in his own world for so long and have lacked the true ability to empathise with other people because either 1. he’s too fixated on his own problems/issues/life/self (cue his narcissism and vanity “broken parts”) and/or 2. he has the fame, wealth, looks, charm, social status, etc. that it’s hard for him to truly understand what the other person is going through
Empathy, putting yourself in other people’s shoes, is important in acting because then the actor truly embodies the person that they are playing and thus elevates their performance. Kevin’s performance is “tired” and both Randall and the director calls him out for it.
And Kevin needed that wake-up call to not just be a better actor or a better person in general, but specifically a better brother to Randall and a better life partner to Madison.
With Randall, it’s understanding/empathising what it meant to be the only black person in a white family and neighbourhood and with Madison, it’s understanding/empathising what it means for her to be a mother and thinking about what’s best for her children as well as her as a person with her own dreams, desires and wants.
I can see the director continue to push Kevin to put himself in his character’s shoes which will enlighten him in how he is in his personal life and therefore becoming more empathetic.
Like we talked about in the GC, the stranger he saves from the car crash will parallel Jack’s heroics in saving the family from the fire and somehow, Kevin will have an epiphany a la Kate and a la Randall stylez and will finally ✨let go ✨ and be the man he’s always meant to be
Young Jack and baseball with his dad will most likely parallel with young Kev and football with Jack which ties in to the present, of course
