Or should I try and find three more mocha's so I can make for individual dolls for each style?

What materials did you use on your mio pullip's faceup? I'm thinking of making my own soon and I was wondering if you had any tips?

I mainly used just watercolor pencils and pastels, and only used paint on her eyelids. :) I also used a bit of Liquitex gloss varnish to finish off her lips. ^_^ Also, I’m not very experienced when it comes to customizing and am still a beginner, but I do have some tips that you may find to be useful.

First off, try looking at lots of pictures of custom faceups. It really helps you figure out what features you’d like and give you ideas on the many things you can do!

Don’t use unsafe materials! (Anything oil based, permanent markers, or crayons are out. Oil free paints, pencils, pastels, and even makeup are fine. You can also use an airbrush and airbrush paints.)

Next, I recommend is using materials that you feel most comfortable using and have the most expertise in using. For example, I’m not very skilled in using paint and a paintbrush for the finer details, which is why I went with watercolor pencils. I was able to draw my MIO’s lashes on her in the precise way I wanted to and was still able to get the effect of paint by using them wet. :3 Doing a faceup isn’t quite like drawing or painting on a flat surface, but even so, using materials you are familiar will still make a big difference.

I also found that patience was a huge key into making my doll’s faceup look the very best that I could make her. Really take your time and don’t rush. :)

If you have to, take a step back and examine your doll from all angles to ensure you have everything the exact way you want, that way you can go back and touch things up if needed. 

Lastly, do not be afraid of messing up. :) Any mistakes can be erased and you can always try again. Once you have everything to your liking, lock it all into place using sealant! ^_^ (Just in case you don’t know this, you will need to use sealant before you start working on your faceup and after you’re done with it. If you plan to use any gloss varnish, make sure that you use it after everything has been sealed, too!)

So I tried painting my MIO's eyelids earlier but didn't like the way the paint ended up setting and the color just wasn't what I wanted, so I decided to wipe them and starting again on them tomorrow, but the good news is, I still ended up making some progress I think! I worked on her faceup a little bit, and I think I like it so far! I still need to add in more color on the lips, some eyeshadow, blush, and eyebrows, but I like the shape of the lashes.  I don't think it's turning out all that bad for my very first custom!

I finally had bought the rest of the supplies I needed for my MIO's faceup! THE very last things I needed! x3 I just have to wait for them to arrive and then I can actually get to work on it! <3 So excited right now that I could cry~!
