A fun and wild official thing happened today! Our Mayor @billpeduto, the #RKMellon, myself, and @alternatehistories received plaques from @etsy today as #Pittsburgh was designated a #MakerCity. So honored (and excited to keep working) to be a part of this creative and bright working group for the #MakerEconomy & #MakerCommunity here. Plus? What a view from the Convention Center terrace overlooking the #AlleghenyRiver at twilight ❤️💪🏼 (at David L. Lawrence Convention Center)

Makers veroveren Mechelen

Mechelen heeft zich net als vele andere centrumsteden in ons land ontwikkeld van een grijs en grauw provincienest tot een bruisend en aantrekkelijk stadje. De Maneblussers willen echter meer zijn dan een toeristische trekpleister. Ziedaar ‘Mechelen is Maker-City’, een vierdaagse beurs voor maker-ondernemers op initiatief van Unizo.

If you were wondering where most of your arts leaning friends or persons who run arts organizations were this past Saturday from 3PM-ish to 5PM-ish, they were at Maker City LA attending the very first edition of Los Angeles’ArtsTech. The conference is a means to explore subjects like social media and the Internet and technology in relationship to art and how the two worlds “can help bring arts and culture to the masses.” It’s an event that stands at the crossing of the two disciplines and seeks to learn and build from both worlds.
