[ I AM IN SO MUCH DANGER. ]
LITOREDEEM, CREEPIITUS, KIRYUIGERIN & MAKIMAVELLIC.
ANONYMOUS SAID; @litoredeem needs some love I feel. Jay has to be one of the sweetest people in the RPC and no matter what muse they're writing, @creepiitus / @kiryuiegerin / or @makimavellic - jay is also just so wonderful! I am so blessed to call them friend and everything they write is top tier. They're so lovely to talk to and just an all around pleasant person. Jay's aesthetics are absolutely amazing too btw and have you seen their art? to die for.
STARES DISRESPECTFULLY.
@makimavellic
"Is. There. A problem. Miss. Makima?"
"Hello M! I mean Mary! Who's your favorite person and why is he the friendly tall fiend with the plague mask?"
---- The officer sighs out. He might be wearing a different mask today, but that silhouette was still painfully obvious. A tiny laugh hisses out, the barest hint of a croak coming with it. Did he want to hear her thoughts so badly? Maybe this was where she should pull that common trope -- where she should play 'hard to get'?
[ My favorite person... well~ I don't remember Makima-shachou ( @makimavellic ) wearing a plague mask~ Mina's ( @interimstellarus ) is pretty tall though... ]
[ - Ah~ But I could just tell you what my favorite things about them are! After all, you really weren't too specific with what you wanted; a favorite person is subjective, after all! ]
---- [ Miss Makima has forethought and an ambition that many find terrifying. But it's impossible for me not to respect the drive she has to achieve whatever she sets her mind to. Even if I've been thrust into situations I've felt uncomfortable by, it's always pushed my limits and helped me learn new things that I was capable of. ]
[ Mina, on the other hand has been helping me remember the simple joys of being human -- the things that are so easily forgotten when you're surrounded by death and violence on the daily. When tragedy is something to report and file away, it loses its luster and becomes routine. Having a friend like her has been invaluable to giving me reasons to smile on the daily. ]
---- [ -Oh! Of course~! And how could I forget about my darling f(r)iend Violence ( @urbanumviolentium )~!? A fiend who despite his namesake and nature, has made the decision of his own volition to be someone worth knowing and thinking about. ]
[ Whose constant struggle against his own internal adversity is proof that it is not only the result that matters; that 'goodness' is not a binary state, but something that must be appreciated with full context of one's own internal bearing. Kind, entertaining, protective, and someone that I want to spend more time with. Every time I'm with him, I remember more and more that everyone, from a fiend embodying violence itself, to the people working in the offices at Public Safety, are all struggling to search for and lay their hands on what it means to be human. ]
❝ Taiyou-kun? ❞
The hum of the vehicle, nary a jostle with the chauffer's smooth turns. She had seen Sora take cat naps in car rides, to stave off the restlessness of being forced to sit in such a cramped space, but today his eyes were glued to the window at his brow.
❝ Are you thinking about earlier? ❞
A mess was certainly a way to describe it. But the officers she spoke to elected to refer to them as the remains of some novice devil hunters. Had it been up to her, she might not have brought Sora along for something like this, but the two of them had already been out in the area, and in truth she just wanted to get it over with so they could clean up the streets.
She had considered the possibility, that for Sora this was much more than a lost cause. So she speaks gently to him within the car.
❝ Do you wish we could have done something for them? ❞
".........."
He doesn't provide an immediate answer, throat too constricted, thoughts too heavy. Somehow it's within the monotony of the passing visage of this car's window that brings focus. Even now, such vivid clashes of that horrendous sight, of seeing blood carelessly paraded all over and the many, many mangled and torn limbs scattered like some overcompensated victory, it was a bitter lesson that found itself often clamming itself as a reminder. That rancid stench peppered with the smog of flame or the heated sting of metal, part of Sora hates how easily that image gets burned into the mind.
Any need to quell his exhaustion or the prolonged trips in a restrained space doesn't hit him. "That.. Yeah." This internal exhaustion was a touch too heavy to bother trying to falsify. "I.. Don't want to get used to something like that, like this city has to in a way.."
Truth would inevitably spill from the starseeking hero. Compared to many more emotions that lash out in thorny penance, or be in a measure of chilled and disturbed at the inherent wrongness of it all, the mere idea of being adjusted truly does scare him. It was a price of letting too much experience attempt being a balm to keep many pressing on.
Makima's voice somehow manages to be a balm in times like this. For an instant their 'fight' could be put to the side, and the injured emotion of the sky would readily and foolishly lean onto those willing to talk. As he places a frustrated grip at his pants legs, he turns, allowing for the blue of his eyes to briefly get lost in gold.
In moments like these, he doesn't bother to try looking away.
"Their hearts.. Aren't here." The phrase in itself would be a mystery, thought not being placed on his facade of keeping this away from her. Maybe it was a sore need to foster trust after this determination to be distant? Sora wasn't bothering to give it any extended thought as he props up a bit more from the leather seats. "A presence I feel.. Heartless carry them, but with these devils? It's as if they're vanishing to a place they can never return.."
Do you wish we could have done something for them?
"!!" His teeth mildly bare themselves before the steam of his sigh spills between them. "Like you'd even have to wonder. How can things just try to continue so normally.. As if these haunting things don't even matter?" Even the measure of Devil Hunters felt- how does he even word it? Too normal? Too ingrained and accepted instead of being lorded with higher importance for security?
It could be ignorance of this World's Order talking.
@makimavellic
❝ i’ll be keeping my eye on you. ❞ c:
Somehow these words never stopped holding a sweet sentiment, normally used by companions who found themselves bringing security with their gaze.
Just like Makima.
...Right?
Rare is the feeling that he ever actively tried putting a lens on the way he's being watched. Where those spirals that bordered on hypnotic rings didn't move, but some part of his soul swore they did, as if there was a strange, acidic friction that tried to actively work against him letting his heart bring higher definition to this link that settles between them. Despite how much it'd be very, very welcomed in this world that finds itself victimized by the boundless gluttonous of devils.
And not just by their powers that bordered to conceptual and heights of stellar destruction, but by elements of humanity that danced in depravity alongside them. As one of the newest 'Honorary' recruits to being a devil hunter, Sora couldn't bother to give it much thought while in the process. Makima's guidance on the matter have certainly led him to what could easily be considered monstrosities, lethal powers that needed to be stopped unless blood was spilled.
So what in the hell was this feeling!? It always found itself roaming during the dreary aftermaths, where little hope was salvaged. In this case, here they remain in territory being melted away from a devil's influence, allowing hellish looking wreckage to distort back to normalcy, letting it be metallic ruins burned from the forces of light and the crushing truths of high strength and physics.
A price felt like it was always being made.
"Heh.. Pretty high faith at work again?" The words hardly hold the usual pomp a better day would drag in. As they remain by a shattered elevator, gouged sections of skyscraper, alongside a rainy backdrop allowing them to drink in the water laden air that barely spritz onto the nearly destroyed walkway they remain upon.
Even now, that sensation of her eyes being focused, it never leaves him. Whether it was her means of expressing joy. Whether it was her method of exacting professionalism by her banner, Sora felt as if he'd never truly know.
The Keyblade's power has once more shown heights that felt more like a gambit than the actual fight. Sora's ability to manipulate time, to even deal with matters of space instantaneously moving, to even offsetting a void in the making. Compared to their first meeting where modest potential could handle the job.
Similar to these droplets, the truth finds itself joyously cascading, never enjoying to hide to begin with.
Within that same moment, his eyes find their focus, daring to peer in that bottomless brightness with sky lit irises. The mystical weapon settled in the hero's firm grip begins to fade, dispelling contently in motes of light that begin to dance to the heavens.
"...I think you're missing a better view if a lot of that attention is concentrated on me. Don't you think?"
Isn't the condition of this city finding better days supposed to remain the primary goal? As highly heartfelt he likes to perceive that very notion.
Sora has come to realize that the people within this job dance to a certain insanity. Now what exactly could that say about him?

Despair, that was the last thing Galgali felt when he attacked the Darkness Devil... all that he wanted was to help people out. But... in the end, it was but a futile attempt, a ridiculous display just so his life can end unceremoniously. Nothing else to do but to wait to unravel into oblivion, he wondered for a second... if anyone would miss him. If anyone...
Suddenly... LIGHT
His two pair of eyes open, breathing heavily, as if he was just about to drown and came up for air. The creature looked around him, trying to get his bearings... only to find a sterile white room, no discerning features other than a door on the east end, and a young woman with cold eyes gazing upon him.
“Ma...Ki...Ma” Galgali spoke with a much growling voice, he touched his face, missing the mask that Public Safety once forced him to bear. Violence was dead, he was certain of it. And yet... there he is... once again, in a black suit and tie. Kneeling before the woman he once both admired and feared. “You... saved me... again...?”

---- Eyes widen. For a moment, the officer cannot stare at her director directly. A chill goes down her spine. This was permission, no? Then why did it carry such a brutal weight along with it? But, why would she even need to think twice about her response? Clearly, she was overthinking things.
[ I am indeed, Director. I'm still trying to come to terms with what happened last week. I nearly died -- and I realized I'm not scared right about dying. I'm scared more of causing trouble for you, for everyone else, when I die and my contract is completed. And that truth has been weighing on me. It won't get in the way of my duties though! I promise! ]
For what reason would it be so terrible for you to consider taking a day off? Even if for you own wellbeing, Mary Ōuchi?
