Anyway, it’s business as usual. 

He’s standing outside Eadric’s house with a displeased expression when there is a horn from the front gates signalling the arrival of a guest. Eadric’s youngest daughter says, ‘Father will be here in a second.’ 

‘You said that two minutes ago.’ 

The small girl shrugs. Grima supposes that is as fine a reply as any. Eadric appears from a back room, tugging on his cloak. ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry—’ 

‘I was unannounced,’ Grima concedes. ‘It is not our regular meeting time, anyway. Walk with me, I’m heading back up the hill.’ 

Grima and small children is a universally hilarious concept. 

Grima: Pretty sure you said he’d only be five minutes ten minutes ago. 

Random child shrugs.

There were many things that could be given over to an agent to inform them of a job. Location data, suspect data, previous reports. Plenty of reasonable things. Not a flier for a B-list low budget film named “Centitaur Prime versus The Creature from the Black Lagoon.” 

“The police want some help with this,” Scar’s superior said, as though he had handed over a completely normal file. “The director thinks someone is trying to sabotage the film shoot. I know you like this... bloody monster fighting sort of stuff, we want you to go undercover for a bit and see what you can learn.”
