THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS WERE INTENSE—IF HE COULD SAY PUT IT THAT WAY. The precinct was a bit on the edge and with great reason—no one could trust anyone right now. Everyone was deemed suspicious and would be susceptible to questioning if they were caught doing anything suspicious. It sounded very much like war times back in the warring villages. It was a good thing Sasuke knew how to play this game; if he continued keeping to himself and not alluding frequently to his already-made mistakes and blunders, he wouldn’t be questioned as much.
Not like there was any room for him to get questioned. He was a workaholic—not going home till the late nights some days. He’d got an alibi. But, even then, that alibi could be misconstrued, given the situation of Wonderland it was easy. Nevertheless, Sasuke continues to keep information about himself to himself. Especially in the police car with Cloud beside him.
It was a rainy Saturday, cliché as it sounds, and they’ve gotten a call to go to a site in Jokeo. Another murder had just occurred near the Flea Market—a long forgotten business for intel. If the owner was still there, they sure wouldn’t like the fact that a murder had happened near his business. Sad thing, but it’s what happens—especially in a place as “run down” as Jokeo. Sasuke looks at the window, watching the raindrops fall and race each other. Soon they’d be near the site and it would be a catalyst to further investigations.
❝ Murder in Jokeo, again—seems like a favorite hang out. ❞
Sasuke muttered to break the tense silence. The Killing Joke is relentless, but so is he. If the Killing Joke was taking them for a deadly ride, it gave Sasuke the pleasure of playing it. After all, if it was a game the Killing Joke wanted, it was a game he was going to get.
