#Repost PLEASE SHARE @sharksneedlove (@get_repost) ・・・ Please read until the end! I have many issues with this image and I certainly have issues with the overall setup of these events. @budweiser support the Mako Mania tournament. A 'sport' that targets and kills big sharks. Last year 25 sharks were caught (and killed) in just 3 days. 'Highlights' include a 455lb Thresher and a 220.8lb Mako. To make things worse the crew who caught and killed the Thresher in a 2.5hr 'battle' not only exhausted and killed the poor shark they were rewarded $52,340 for doing so. In 2015 the same event killed 13 sharks, including a 500lb Thresher. It seems this event is becoming more popular with an increase in shark deaths and with sponsorship from giants such as #Budweiser is that really a surprise? Yesterday this tournament started once again, they've already killed at least 5 sharks and of course plan to kill more. WHAT CAN WE DO: 1. Go to the link in my or @blueplanetsociety's bio and you'll be directed to the marina hosting this event. Please feel free to leave a constructive review or feedback relating to their 'services' 2. I urge you to contact @budweiser with your constructive thoughts- Email, DM, comment or otherwise. If Budweiser pull their sponsorship I believe we have a good chance of shutting this hell hole of a tournament down. Targeting and killing mature, vulnerable status sharks is outrageous. Threshers don't mature until 8-10 years of age and only produce a handful of pups (2-4 babies) every 2 years (!) this dangerous combination provides even more evidence why these sharks should NOT be targeted. Big sponsorship endorsements for these tournaments is encouraging the killing of important apex predators which, in my opinion is just not on. Speak up people, let your voice be heard 💥 Photo: 501lb Thresher caught YESTERDAY #bahiamarina #threshershark #makomania #shark #mako #sharks #saltlife #sharklife
