I don't have a problem with Asami and Korra ending together (it's pretty visible in my account 😂) but I'm sorry, I just can't believe what some people say about it being something planned from the beginning... Are you really telling me that a things like a few looks or Asami offering Korra a race to bond with her (most likely because she wanted to be friends with her because Korra also was Mako's friend, I've always had the perception that she wanted to bond with her because was someone close to her boyfriend, in the same way she was friends with Bolin) imply that they were interested in eachother in a romantic level?
I saw a pic some time ago (I haven't been able to find it... if anyone finds it with text, I'd appreciate it if they could send it to me) where they basically said that Asami asking Mako if they could use Korra's help in Book 2 with all of the ship ambush thing was meant to show that she's always thinking about Korra... her whole enterprise was at risk, and it's reasonable that the first person who comes to mind when dealing with a threat like that is... the fucking Avatar, literally, the most powerful human in the whole world...
Frankly, sometimes I think that people just say and believe anything in order to make Korrasami look better.
I'm not saying that Korra x Asami wasn't intentional, it's pretty clear that there was an intention in some of the things that both did during the next seasons (some can be considered more related to friendship than love though, but anyway), but to say that it was intentional FROM THE BEGINNING?!? Nope, sorry, I just don't see it. And yeah, I know the creators of the show said it themselves, but come on, they're not going to openly say "oh, no, we were going for Makorra first, but in the next seasons we changed our minds and decided to go for Korrasami", of course they're going to say what will make them look better...
Frankly, that last breakup at the second season didn't even look like a permanent break up, like...
The way they kissed eachother, the way she laid his forehead against his, the tears, the way it took her some time to let go of his hand as she was leaving (like if she was conflicted about it)... and of course, the "I will always love you" from both of them... it's something that heavily implied (or at least that was my impression) that it wasn't a permanent break up, it just wasn't the right time, but that didn't mean that when that moment arrived and they were more mature, they couldn't go back to being a couple, without all the arguments.
Obviously, i can't say it for sure, but I think that the creators weren't really sure about what they had to do with the love triangle until much later, perhaps because of the toxicity that was being created within the fandom.
The Legend of Korra, just like The Last Airbender, was completely awesome, and the way it was connected to the first Avatar show with all those little and not so little references was DELIGHTFUL, but we can't ignore that they also made what i consider HUGE mistakes (Mako's conclusion, for example, I hate how he ended "focusing in his career", like, seriously? In 4 seasons, that's the best you can come up with?), so I don't think that believing that it was a later on or even a last time decision is a crazy thought (I don't mean to hate on Korrasami either).
