Mal Oretsev. Tracker. First Army. Grisha.

*spoilers for books*

Mal isn’t just an amplifier, he is also Grisha. He never underwent the tests and just assumed he was otkazat’sya, or non Grisha. But of course, being descended from the same line as the Black Heretic himself, it isn’t so simple for the tracker. 

His Grisha ability is revealed the same time as Alina’s as a response to seeing his best friend (and secret first love) so close to being killed by volcra. Not that anyone realizes it at first, too caught up in Alina’s Sun Summoning abilities being revealed. But when he learns that Alina is going to go to the Little Palace, his ability sparks again in response to his emotion.

Much like his ancestor and best friend, Mal’s Grisha ability is extremely rare and most likely the first ever in recorded history. While the Darkling is shadow and Alina is sun, Mal is more like the night or moon - a reflection of both. It is believed that his superior tracking abilities are partially a result of him subconsciously using his gift to reflect light and shadow to make tracks easier to spot. 

Or:

Everyone is fighting over m*lina or d*rklina and i’m over here like ‘why don’t we have all three?’ and thus grisha!mal has came into being. can be seen as leading to m*lina, m*larkling, or my personal headcanon, m*larklina.

Auradon 2028 AU 

Synopsis: 

Auradon has transformed into a city full of technology and promise of a happy future. However, the government rules the city by oppression, they believe that everyone should be ‘the best version of themselves’ and any form of evil is a disease that should be cured by any means necessary. How will the VKs adapt under these new circumstances 

Mal is a Bounty Hunter that is owned by the government. Her job is to track down people who are ‘infected’ (criminals, evildoers and anyone who does anything that is deemed immoral). She doesn’t really want to be in this position but she doesn’t have a choice due to certain choices that she made in the past.

Character Concept

Mal as a cybernetic eye and visor which helps enhance her search. She also has a bar code on her neck with ‘Auardon’ written underneath, to remind her that she will always be their property. 

I wanted to keep with Mal’s original colour scheme but added a neon elements to her character design to make it more futuristic. Also, this is not her Hunter outfit, this is more of a casual wear for her.

Editor Note: Those of you that have seen my previous edits, know I’m more of a Sea Three fanatic 😂 So it felt fresh editing someone else. Also, Dove is so photogenic like omg 😍 This AU is really dark though, right? 😭
