checked out the city of #malchow today and quite frankly fell in love. it basically consists of two districts, the old and the new town. the old city is situated on an island surrounded by the malchow lake and it is connected to the main land via turning bridge and a raised dam. it also is famous for the abbey, on the east shore of the lake, which boasts a gothic revival church but dates back to the 13th century. the malchow lake is also connected to the fleesensee in the east and plauer see in the west, both lakes are also connected to even more lakes which basically constitute the mecklenburg lake district. water is essential in this region, it defines it and is the foundation for the people living here. it is a region that needs tourists to survive, because otherwise it would be a pretty forgotten part of germany. there are places here that are so far deep in the backwater that you don't even have a good phone line connection. experiencing this and seeing it with my own eyes makes you realize why some people in the east of germany are so frustrated with their living situations... #mecklenburgvorpommern #mecklenburgischeseenplatte #malchowersee #altstadtmalchow #inselstadt #islandcities (hier: Malchow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany) https://www.instagram.com/p/B248GD8iJde/?igshid=ook4j53e5jwh
