Estelle being trained/taken in by Guy is actually so funny when you think about it.
Imagine being Guy Gardner and you suffer a traumatizing head injury and you’re doing okay for a bit and then you sucked into a hell dimension for months and then you come back and HAL JORDAN is having an affair with your then girlfriend. The guy who’s like. The (unwilling) face of your organization of intergalactic space guardians is sleeping with YOUR girlfriend while you were out there fighting literal demons and went temporarily insane because of it. This is the same guy who later goes mad with grief and blows up half the Corps then becomes the SUN to make it right. The guy who then comes back as The Spectre, a spirit or wrath turned redemption and then just straight up comes back to life. That guy’s daughter manages to SOMEHOW steal YOUR CAR specifically and then demands you take her to California to see the Coast City memorial. I would shoot myself in front of him the next time I saw him.

Erm… malhal doodle based off the ref to the left. This is probably during their early lantern days?
Sadder, more realistic option: Hal doesn’t meet Estelle until Parallax/Post Parallax where he’s already horribly depressed as is and now having to come to grips with the fact that Mal didn’t trust him enough to tell him about his own kid + said kid saw him like that as a first impression of her previously absent father
Funnier option: something big goes down and all the Earth Green Lanterns are like, 90% sure they’re gonna die in twenty minutes. After the initial panic they decide to get some things off their chest and everyone but Hal and Malaika have said something
Never forget this iconic Malhal moment
Close enough welcome back death and the maiden
