“  oh   no !  ”      feigned   disappointment...   the   remains   of   a   gasp   hanging   across   her   lips.            true   performance   comes   in   the   way   of   hand   falling   against   her   chest.   fingers   sprawled   out  ,   to   rise   and   fall   with   each   tremble   of   her   lungs.   it’s   an   act   she   has   spent   the   better   half   of   ten   years   perfecting.   not   that   it   much   mattered   to   those   that   called   the   island   home.   a   pout   here.   a   batted   eyelash   there.   that   was   not   their   currency.   she   had   merely   known   one   day  ,   in   a   land   far   away  ,                          such   talents   would   come   in   handy.   and   of   course...   getting   to   use   it   to   toy   with   mal   was   just   a   bonus.      “  how   will   i   ever   survive   such   a   curse ?  ”      it’s   maybe   a   step   too   much.      just   that   dash   of   over   dramatics   that   makes   her   story   unbelievable.       or   maybe   it’s   the   way   lips   curl   into   a   smirk                  chuckle   getting   the   better   of   her   and   bleeding   into   a   full  ,   belly   deep   laugh.   the   kind   that   bares   the   echo   of   her   mother.

click   of   her   tongue  ,       head   tipping   to   the   side   to   allow   her   better   view   of   the   heir   that   stands   before   her.    she   takes   a   moment.    and   then   meets   her   gaze  ,   features   bright   and   set   with   mischief.      “  hate   to   throw   a   wrench   in...   whatever   this   plan   was  ;       but   some   of   us   can   handle   not   getting   invited   to   a   party.   we   don’t   all   have   to   have   a   meltdown.  ”

          “   what the fuck do you w  --  oh .   heyyy mal .   ”     the awkwardness is not lost upon her .   loathe she is to admit it ,   today’s session of remedial goodness 101 only served to rub her the wrong way ,   and now she has snapped at one of the only people at this school who can understand even a smidge of what she’s going through .     “   sorry .   thought you were some prep coming to give me a hard time .   ”
