The maltman Whisky Ben Nevis 20 y.o.

The Maltman Whisky Ben Nevis 20 y.o. is certainly a whisky that invites you to enjoy it slowly and discover its multi-layered aromas. It combines the character of the Ben Nevis distillery with the careful selection and expertise of an independent bottler. Anyone who has the opportunity to try a bottle can look forward to a special taste experience that reflects the long maturation period and individual cask maturation. It is a whisky that elegantly captures the history and terroir of the Scottish Highlands.

Old Calton Burial Ground.

This has to be one of the most unique gravestones I have ever seen. William Raeburn, a Perfumer died in 1812 aged 60, and has this handsome grave in the shape of a perfume bottle.  

Raeburn was  Perfumer to the Prince of Wales and had a shop at 13 North Bridge in the city and lived at Carrubbers Close, which runs from the High Street on the Royal Mile down to the end of Jeffrey Street at Old Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. the third pic is from the Post Office directories 1811/12, also on the directory is the rather more famous Henry Raeburn the renowned painter, I couldn’t find a connection between the two though so very much doubt they were related.

He also had a premises in Glasgow and was a “Maltman” according to two directories I found him in, after much searching, The Trades House and the Burgess and Guild Brethren. A maltman was the traditional name for a brewer, the use of alcohol connecting the two businesses!

Maltman, mothdropman, or simply mothman. All names given to this elusive piñata. No one knows much about it other than it appears briefly in the dead of night before vanishing once more. It seems to be attracted to lights and is non agressive but will flee when it notices a human. There's a small chance it will steal one of your smaller piñata, worry not though for they will return to you within a few days. One town loves this cryptid so much they started an annual festival to celebrate it.

Maltman California Summer Ale 4,7% vol. Budapest, Ungarn

“California Summer Ale”. Das klingt nach blumigem Hopfenaroma und schlankem, frischem Malzkörper. Diese Version ist zwar auch schlank, von blumigem Hopfen fehlt aber jede Spur. Stattdessen fließt das Gebräu in trübem Strohgelb plörrig ins Glas, mit leidlich malzigem Aroma. Geschmacklich dann leicht herbes Wasser. Im Nachtrunk kämpft sich dann so etwas wie eine leichte Bittere hervor. Nö. 2/10

The Maltman Whisky Glenrothes 15 y.o.

The Maltman is known for releasing only single cask bottlings without added coloring or chill filtration, in order to keep the whisky as natural as possible. Each bottling is limited and released in small quantities.

The Maltman Glenrothes 15 Years Old is a bottling that combines the expertise of an independent bottler with the characteristic distillery style of Glenrothes from the Speyside region of Scotland. This particular whisky is characterized by its maturation in a refill sherry cask, meaning the sherry notes are present but do not overpower the original character of the Glenrothes distillate.

Glen Keith 18 1993/2012 MBl The Maltman (51,5 %)

Glen Keith nå, og en tapning fra Meadowside Blending, som har en serie ved navn The Maltman. Den er destillert i 1993 og tappet i 2012, og er 18 år gammel.

På nesen fikk jeg vanilje, malt, litt peppermynte, stikkelsbær, marsipan, honning og grønne epler, og et hint av brøddeig. Smaken var preget av malt, mint, litt plommer, krydder og pære, mens avslutningen var en anelse «sur», med maltsødme først, men så kom det inn en del sitrus, slangeagurk (!) og trebitterhet. Med vann var nesen stadig preget av vanilje og mint, men ikke fullt så skarp nå, og litt vingummi. Smaken fikk mer malt og pære, og litt brøddeignoter igjen. Avslutningen ble kortere, med malt og vanilje.

En tydelig bourbonfatlagret whisky dette, og ganske «grønn» først. Deignotene og de litt sure trekkene drar den litt ned for min del, men nesen var jo grei.

The Maltman - Deanston 10 Jahre

Im Gegensatz zur zehnjährigen Standard-Abfüllung, reifte dieser Deanston von Maltman in Pedro-Ximenes-Sherryfässern nach. Der Highländer offenbart seine Stärken vor allem durch seinen intensiven Sherry-Einfluss: dunkle Schokolade und Rosinen münden in einem langen und süßen Abgang.
