Once again im drawing Xiao and Macaque from my Destiny’s little voice AU. I love them. Ive never drawn lightning like this before, it’s a little muddy, but fun.

Imagine little MK running up lbd to hug her leg only for her to kick him off her

THIS IS CRUEL 😣😣 NOT LIL MKKK

Its so sad because I CAN SEE IT HAPPENING, yet my LBD wouldn’t exactly kick MK. Because she doesn’t care enough to. That kind of emotional reaction is beneath her. Acting on it is a waste of energy.

If little MK ran up to her the way he runs to Macaque, she wouldn’t react with anger, even disgust is too strong a word. To LBD its insignificant. Mk’s feelings are insignificant.

A cold glare, annoyance is the most Mk would get. She would never indulge his loving nature. his actions are pitiful, human even. She understands them, but she does not care for them.

You know how her magic can form chains? I feel like she wouldn’t even waste physical action on pushing MK off. Maybe a flick of magic that pulls him off, or like a string, not a full chain? Not a hard tug, just sudden and firm, like batting away a fly.

Or the Mayor wordlessly lifting MK by the scruff like a misbehaving pet?

Mk doesn’t understand because he’s used to Macaque’s hugs, how Macaque no matter how frustrated or tired he is always lets Mk curl beside him, or wiggle into an embrace. Because we all know when Mk first feels the warmth and rush of happiness a hug brings, he would want to share it. So being greeted with LBD’s icy reaction, it hurt, it was scary.

Macaque is at his side in a heartbeat, probably having been running after a loose MK. But freezes for a moment under LBD’s gaze before she turns back to her work, because ONCE AGAIN, its insignificant to her, she has far more important things to look at. (This one is just a colored sketch)

Then he scoops MK up and whisks him from the room, tail between his legs.

I imagine Macaque scolding Xiao softly, not out of anger, but that fear that manifests into frustration. But it instantly melts away When Mk looks up with bewildered, tear streaked face.

So Macaque holds his kid close all the way down the hall, whispering reassurances, his own hands trembling.

He’s not mad at MK.

He’s just terrified of losing him 🙂‍↕️

Its probably this moment where MK understands (as much as his young mind can) that while LBD may show him attention and ‘warmth’ in his training and regarding his destiny, she doesn’t care for him in any other way.

So, the lmk fandon tends to focus on. Mroe mk centric aus- which is fine AND understandable!!

He is the protag after all, but I want more Mei centric aus, like, look at this girl!! So many opportunities for angst and aus!!

Anyway I bring you this au I jsut thought out, I promise its a lot more angst then I make it seem in this post please-

Macaque raising Bai he AND Mei, cause we gotta have mama Mac

Like, he found mei....somehow- and bai he abandoned, maybe? And he's improving as a person, then LBD gets released and dresses one of his kids, and his ex takes another one of his kids to get the rings of sahamadi

And just like- mei knowing she's going to get grounded for LIFE after this whole thing, while also being worried sick for her little sister

And mac not knowing which side to go to because his daughters are on both. But if he goes to the oldest's side, his youngets could get hurt..and well....he IS still binded to LBD

Also nobody else knows Mac is meitbai he's dad, they jsut knwo the 2 are sisters and their dad is a very social person

because, come on. Mac is a loser and doesn't do social interactions- (/hj)

Does little MK call macaque baba or mama?

This is a pretty simple answer, but I want to give some extra context too!

Short answer: Yes!! Little MK calls Macaque “Mama.”

Now for the long explanation!! And Art!!

Personally, I love “Baba” for Macaque. If I were doing a biological parent Macaque AU, or Shadowpeach parents, Xiao would most likely call Macaque Baba. I’m also a huge fan of Mama in general, it really depends on the AU and the story being told.

For Destiny’s Little Voice AU, I actually almost went with neither. Just Macaque, that felt forced tho.

When I was thinking about how the nickname would come to be, I realized Macaque would not sit Xiao/Lil Mk down and say, “Okay, call me Mama/Baba.” He just wouldn’t.

But I do want Xiao to call Macaque something other than his name, and I wanted it to feel natural, not forced.

So I looked at MK/Xiaoshi’s development in this AU.

Xiao is a little guy literally

He has the body of a toddler, he’s less developed than he was intended to be, so he has to learn how to walk and talk. That means Macaque ends up being the one who teaches him how to speak.

At first, Xiao can’t say many syllables. Anything too complex is hard for his mouth to form, even though he does understand what’s being said. For a while, he mostly makes monkey noises (he is a stone monkey after all).

Macaque doesn’t mind this at first I mean Xiao’s just a baby Monkey after all.

…but LBD does.

She finds it irritating, distracting, and unbecoming of her “perfect world.” (LBD tries to seem indifferent but she hates monkeys💔)

So, to fix that, Macaque starts teaching Xiao how to talk.

Macaque is a hard word, It’s long, and has three syllables.

When Macaque tries to teach Xiao to say it, Xiao struggles…

and what comes out instead is:

“Ma… Ma.”

And that’s how “Mama” happens.

Macaque is lenient, who wouldn’t be when faced with that little face? Macaque never challenges Xiao to say Macaque again, wouldn’t wanna lose Ma/Mama phase~
