Everyone I’d like you to meet Xiǎotiān, THEE Harbinger of Chaos-Prince of Flower Fruit Mountain

This is my Crowned Prince AU, PREVIOUSLY titled Monkey Mine. But then more angst got involved…

I WOULD LOVVEE ANY ASKS! I can also answer in character with art if anyone is interested in that (If so let me know or just send an ask addressing a character to start!) But just regular questions or concerns are MORE THAN APPRECIATED. You don’t understand how happy and excited I get when I get asks. Even if its just saying hi.

Once again im drawing Xiao and Macaque from my Destiny’s little voice AU. I love them. Ive never drawn lightning like this before, it’s a little muddy, but fun.

Does little MK call macaque baba or mama?

This is a pretty simple answer, but I want to give some extra context too!

Short answer: Yes!! Little MK calls Macaque “Mama.”

Now for the long explanation!! And Art!!

Personally, I love “Baba” for Macaque. If I were doing a biological parent Macaque AU, or Shadowpeach parents, Xiao would most likely call Macaque Baba. I’m also a huge fan of Mama in general, it really depends on the AU and the story being told.

For Destiny’s Little Voice AU, I actually almost went with neither. Just Macaque, that felt forced tho.

When I was thinking about how the nickname would come to be, I realized Macaque would not sit Xiao/Lil Mk down and say, “Okay, call me Mama/Baba.” He just wouldn’t.

But I do want Xiao to call Macaque something other than his name, and I wanted it to feel natural, not forced.

So I looked at MK/Xiaoshi’s development in this AU.

Xiao is a little guy literally

He has the body of a toddler, he’s less developed than he was intended to be, so he has to learn how to walk and talk. That means Macaque ends up being the one who teaches him how to speak.

At first, Xiao can’t say many syllables. Anything too complex is hard for his mouth to form, even though he does understand what’s being said. For a while, he mostly makes monkey noises (he is a stone monkey after all).

Macaque doesn’t mind this at first I mean Xiao’s just a baby Monkey after all.

…but LBD does.

She finds it irritating, distracting, and unbecoming of her “perfect world.” (LBD tries to seem indifferent but she hates monkeys💔)

So, to fix that, Macaque starts teaching Xiao how to talk.

Macaque is a hard word, It’s long, and has three syllables.

When Macaque tries to teach Xiao to say it, Xiao struggles…

and what comes out instead is:

“Ma… Ma.”

And that’s how “Mama” happens.

Macaque is lenient, who wouldn’t be when faced with that little face? Macaque never challenges Xiao to say Macaque again, wouldn’t wanna lose Ma/Mama phase~

Ive never drawn anything like this before. I feel I learned a lot from it! It was very challenging and funn! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I did a bit more than a doodle though haha, still a sketchy style but full rendered.

I’ve been asked on discord and tumblr “Where is Wukong?” In my Destiny’s Little Voice AU While his design isn’t 100% decided, his start in the story has been decided from the beginning.

Wukong is home, on his mountain of flowers and fruit, Mount Huaguo. He has been there since the great companions passed. Only leaving to retrieve his staff from the Bull family when DBK is freed. Returning to his mountain again, staff resting beside him. The world is mostly at peace, all his enemies defeated or wise enough not to bother him. And there are no more adventures Wukong wants to have…at least not alone.

So the Monkey King had been resting, guarding his mountain for the last 500 years, in complete solitude despite his monkeys attempts to cheer him up.

The monkey featured in this piece has an important role, as a marshal. I’ll explain more about them in the future.

Demons in JTTW (depending on the type) Usually have a true form of an animal. They are reduced to this form after being defeated or retreating. The Monkey here (Ma) once had a demon form but was defeated, so either doesn’t have the power to change or just doesn’t use it anymore.

I could have done more but honestly don’t have many ideas.

I will say I could have did another sketch but I was got too excited and ment ahead and colored them. Which is why my sketch lines are more vivid than usual.
