Never has she considered herself a loud crier. Whenever she indulged in the act, the tears would soundless leak loose, as hot pain gripped her lungs. But never would she whimper. Never would she choke or sniffle. Now was no different. She simply laid there, hidden beneath the covers, allowing the tears to fall and soak into her pillow. But a mother’s instinct is above all senses.

A jolt of shock hits the teen when she feels pressure at the end of her bed. Reflexively she wipes the tears from her eyes and steadies her breath as best she can. Uncovering herself, she rolls over, staring wide-eyed through the dark at the figure of her guardian, crawling over to her.

You’re my hero. I’ve always tried to stay friends with my exes. Just because things didn’t work out between us that way doesn’t mean we should lose the friendship we shared. A lot of people think that’s weird, but I’d support them no matter what.

I think a lot of people think it has to be that way, where you hate the other person, talk ill of them, just seethe that their very existence for a bit and then move on, but I'm friends with 2 of my last 3 ex girlfriends. Sometimes things just don't work out and that's ok, like you said there's no need to lose a friendship over it.
