10 Things I Like About Myself
I was tagged by the amazing Omelette, so here we go:
1. I am strange. I love that about myself and I love that I can use it to figure out who will fit into my little friend circle, because you've got to love the weird to love me.
2. I take pride in my work. That can be a downside too, because I'm so often hard on myself. It's difficult to keep perspective and separate what others expect of me from what I expect of myself.
3. I've got a dry sarcastic sense of humor, and most of the time I'm pretty quiet, but when I feel like it I can usually make people laugh, which is an awesome feeling.
4. I am comfortable being on my own. I will never be someone who feels awkward sitting down to a meal by myself or whiling away the day sitting with a book on my couch or in a coffee shop. Maybe it comes from being an only child, but it's a handy quality to have.
5. I quite like my singing voice. I've never formally trained so my range isn't that great, but sometimes I hear myself (usually in the car or in the shower) and I give myself a little mental fist pump.
6. I try to be responsible. Particularly lately, I've been working more to think of the long-term ramifications of little everyday decisions. That largely involves being more conscious of finances, since I'm paying my own way for the first time, and the fact that I still have my head above water actually makes me quite proud.
7. I didn't give up. The last few years were the most trying of my life, and even though at times it seemed like the payoff wouldn't be there at the end, I forced my way through and achieved what I had set out to do.
8. On a shallow note, I've always been pretty happy with the way I look. Obviously there are things I would change if I could, but I've largely come to terms with the features I'm not so happy with and the rest, I embrace.
9. I would rather get lost in a story than do just about anything else. Fiction is my happy place, even if I don't get to give myself over to it as much lately.
10. I managed to find the most wonderful, amazing, kind, funny, and all too good for me man who wants to spend his life with me, and so I must be doing something right, but I do know that I'll spend the rest of mine trying to make him happy. Which is a win-win, because there's nothing that makes me happier with myself than that.
And now that I've got the difficult part done, to the tagging: gothicmarmite, got-my-lasers-set-to-seventies, mamazoom, naughtyroxie, agedbeaster, fuckthezoo, ponchocombo, lindsaysvalentine, the-greatness-we-deserve, and mrsvincenoir.
