Interaction between lions in the pride is very important and maintains a bond between individuals and keeps the peace within the group. This daily interaction can be seen in many different ways. Tanzania is not only full of amazing wildlife but also home to a hundred and twenty heterogeneous tribes, of which the Hadzabe are only one.The Hadzabe are one of the few tribes still clinging onto their traditional roots. Using bows and arrows to bring down their prey, they are the only tribe still allowed to hunt in around Tanzania parks and game recerves . Their hunting prowess is truly formidable and I was in awe to watch them in action. But what struck me as most interesting about this tribe was the way to obtain their leaders. They choose their leader based on hunting ability. The one who can hunt a big baboon and protect it well so that others can come and observe it he is the one whom will lead the group . Am cheetah (Ancionyx jubatus) also am simply stunningly beautiful and lovely with no exception. With a top speed of a 120m/h am the formidable hunter in my own right. Zebras! Ancient horse creatures that have been painted black and white by some unseen hand. Why? Thermal regulation? Possibly. Camouflage? Yes! So the lions can't see them? No! Lions see in black and white. To dazzle their predators when they run together so each individual is harder to see? Possibly. They are called a dazzle of zebra for a reason. Camouflage from biting insects that carry disease like the tseste fly? Ahhh yes! An explanation to do with the polarisation of light and the way insects navigate has the answer. Our old friend disease was the selection pressure to drive the evolution of these stripes. An experiment then! Paint people with stripes and see if they are bothered by bugs as people without! Painty painty painty waity waity waity....results! People wearing body paint are bitten ten times less than the people without!
