being in a recording studio was still a lot to handle for the young woman. especially with her daughter, jules, being home with a cold from her day care it was hard to focus on one task at a time. but her older sister, sofia, had come in for a couple of days and wound up helping rachel out. rachel had been wandering in the record studio’s lobby, waiting for her sister to come back with jules and their lunch order when she spotted someone out of the corner of her eye. please, she thought, please do not be heading this way. she hummed, watching him walk through the glass of the record studio’s front windows. and then, there he was. standing right in front of her. and rachel’s heart fell to the pit of her stomach. she wasn’t sure if it was seeing him again--her high school crush, the one guy she’d thought she loved, the father of her daughter ( even if he didn’t know as she hadn’t been able to contact him when she found out )--or if it was the fact that, at any moment, her sister was going to walk through the doors with her daughter. the daughter rachel had tried to tell adam about but been cast away by his manager. “adam, i, uh, i thought you were in europe somewhere.” last she heard. last she’d been able to get in touch with him that was here he’d been heading. but that was nearly four years ago, wasn’t it? a lot had likely changed since then. not that rachel would know, she’d begged everyone to not mention adam around her. of course, she wanted to run off or brush him off and wait for her sister and daughter elsewhere, but it was hard to leave the spot where she was standing.
